New PTF Rural Carrier here

So I have just completed my first pay period as a PTF, and so far, I have to say, I love it. I was an RCA in Clinton, ME for 2 years, and bid on a PTF position in Bowdoinham, ME. There are two PTF positions in my new office and my scheduled days are Thurs/Fri. (They just started Amazon Sundays so the other PTF and I will be alternating). With my Sat/Mon open I can pretty much get 4-5 days every week. But one of the regular carriers I am assigned to is attempting to change her K day to Sat. From what I understand, in a formula office, all routes must have a different day off, and since the senior 2 subs already have sat/mon, she can't change her K day, or am I mistaken?

The carrier can request a reformulation since the matrix has changed with your new appointment.

There is an incentive to pick tue-thur, if the carrier is receiving no incentive for those days, then I can see them wanting a change.

The formula is in the contract, and there is a fillable form on here, a search should find it. *the language does state that at least 1 k gets a Saturday no matter what, but I always here people say not correct.

Morty-
There Must be at least 1 Saturday Relief Day. Also listed in the “how-to” Formula, no weekday can have more Relief carriers than Saturday.
I.E. 10 route office w/4 on Sat, 4 on Monday, & 2 on Tuesday. A sub quits so Mgmt recalculated the Formula. 1 Saturday is lost so juniority Saturday must pick a day (Tuesday- Friday). Monday will also lose their Junior Relief to another weekday since it cannot have more Relief than Saturday. If Sat junior picks Tuesday, then Monday junior will only have Wed-Fri to choose from.
It’s up to the carriers to enforce Recalculation... especially when someone will gain a Saturday.
BE AWARE that a newly hired sub doesn’t count until their OTJ training is completed.

thx gotstamps, I guess that means that they could have two regulars with a k day on sat. There are only 4 routes in my office, all K routes, and there are now 2 ptf carriers.

PastOThirty, so my interpretation of your post is that if a formula office has 4 routes total, all routes MUST have a different K day?
