Actually, I do disagree. It does make sense. Not sure why we should let someone keep a career position building up time towards retirement when they are only working two days a week. And I know that is not the case everywhere but it does happen. This PTF can then in their final working years take a full time position for three years to earn their high three and then retire with full credit for all those other part time years. It is exactly what caused rural subs back in the early 80's(?) to lose the ability to count sub time towards retirement. Not everyone did it that way but plenty did and they just ended it completely. I'm not going to feel too sorry for the PTF when there are plenty of RCA's who will be happy to take that position.
I get your point but where we are there is no such thing as plenty of RCA's.

The gist of what was meant was the PO dismissing competent people, especially rca's. THAT makes no sense whatsoever. Spend +++$10,000.00 to train and academy an rca so they can quit the first day?

Like the job but hate the absolute incompetence of postmasters and pooms making no sense decisions.

Took a screen shot to use it if needed. Thank you. What document is it from?

What more proof do you need to get woke on how they view/abuse the RCA? You Regulars aren't far ahead on their ladder. You should all see that by now with the inaction of the Amascan explosion being ignored.

How far are they willing to go to force out the high earners? How far?

I'm beyond being worried about getting fired, and I am comfortable becoming a very vocal champion of the RCA craft. I don't need this job. I just happen to respect it and those around me trying to make it work.

It would be nice if the USPS saw some value in us. The fact is, if these turnover goals are real, they don't. If they don't care about your RCA, they don't care about you. Obvious.

It takes what it takes should forever be the mantra until we can get rid of this archaic evaluation system.
2 OIG reports a few years apart...the issue of non-career attrition is a self-kicking can. As usual, the comments in each tell the real story. There are threads in here that discuss this as well.

Had a good laugh. I saw the new CCA hire doing their shadow day. A +300lb waddling mouth breathing knuckle dragger. Sure they could lift 70lbs. Walk 6-9 miles a day is something I doubt. Reg who did the shadow day walk told me a no hire recommendation. Guess where they are going?

Office betting pool is in action on how long they last. Closest to date of quit gets a dozen Dunkin doughnuts from chip in from all in pool.

USPS only hires top-notch peeps....

Actually, my fault. My statement was regarding MOST decisions the post office makes. I'm thinking you'd agree with that.

In this particular case, I agree with you, the PTF should be required to accept the position or resign. PTF is a job that is a stepping stone to regular, or it has been in all the offices I've worked within. So, in this case, it's not really a "decision" but rather following the contract and established policy.

On the clerk side.... the senior PTF has to take any open higher level Ntft (nifty) or Regular Clerk job in office, or resign.... same, same....

Sprocket et al -- "I get your point but where we are there is no such thing as plenty of RCA's."

-- Appears President Stutts should do an update of the information passed along in X-President Dwyer's departing article in the September issue of the national magazine.

-- roughly 6 RCA's / ARC's for every 7 regulars and PTF's.

-- 4 out of 5 relief carriers stay employed over a year. ( granted it was not mentioned exactly where they were employed! )

Now the votes are showing most Regs had between 4-7 years as a RCA.... most RCAs here seem to be in the 1-3 year range.... probably not astounding news, but somewhat interesting nonetheless....

I'm not sure I quite understand. Most of the posts on here regarding being overworked is because there are no sub carriers of any kind to relieve regulars. When one complaint arises, many agree and signal they have the same issues.

Perhaps another poll, where number of routes, number of regulars (some routes are aux, some have RCA working extended sick leave) number of RCA, PTF, RAC in the office. Yeah, I know it's not scientific.

Mr. Stutts seems to think we're right staffed, with enough coverage to avoid overtime, to allow leave whenever needed. I hear different stories here. Lots or 2080, 2240, mandatory days off etc.

Our offices happen to be right staffed. I have contacts at a few others (used to work there, know regulars and rurals who are now 204b) and they seem to be staffed correctly. However, our offices or the others don't have any excess subs who can be loaned to another office. Right at 40 hours or 5 days evaluated plus express, ectc. There are several other offices within District who are mandatory six days for regulars AND Sunday Amazon. No help.

Sorry for the ramble. I'm a fact based guy, a good place to start. Maybe a few of you clear thinking old farts can help this Old Fart understand more clearly.

I'll try to gin up another poll that allows peeps to express their current staffing levels....

Seems RCAs, or lack there of, is a popular topic of conversation for many here.... I guess I've led a sheltered life, as I've usually always had a sub....
