New RCA, seeking advice

Grosshands

Hey all, my first real day was 4/8, the Academy ended a day before, so I've got, roughly 18 days under my belt. Just finished my regulars route, basically by myself after a handful of shadowing days under other subs and the regular. Now, I feel confident in this route, more or less, not super quick but I know I can work on that by adjusting what I take to the street when casing, etc.

Last night before leaving I'd seen the schedule for the rest of the week and now that I'm no longer shadowing my days working seem a bit lower than I'd hoped. Given the fact I'm still pretty green would it be wise to call other sister locations for hours this soon? I may be in need of money but I also don't want to put myself in a bad position of "wtf was I thinking?!" any advice at all is appreciated!

Jeez, you're killing me here. I have less than 30 working days inside my office. I have been assigned one route. A nine hour Monday route that is consistently high volume. I patted myself on the back this week because two of us finished this route in less than 10 hours. For the first time. It has taken up to twelve hours with four of us working this route, and I have yet to run the full route by myself. Up until Monday, I spent at least eight hours in the case on Monday's. The lady that delivers at my home has given me phone numbers to all the local supervisors. My assigned office is not what I consider "local" because I'm still unfamiliar with the office zip code area and I have a 45 minute drive to get there.

I work Amazon Sunday and Monday. Period. The other RCA's have been getting three day's because they're helping me. I would really like to see what other routes are like, especially on any other day than Monday, but I suck so bad on this route, there is no way I'd offer myself to another office. Especially now! Ha! What the heck am I doing wrong?

If you're comfortable, take the leap. Go visit the other offices. I wish I was that capable ...and I don't need the money, just the exercise and human interaction. Best wishes to you!

As mentioned above, I would do amazon Sunday if you can. Pretty easy money.

Personally I would not work other routes in other offices so soon... full routes that is. I got really good by finding an aux route in another office to do, it really helped me because it's just a toned down version of a real route. You learn what you have to do on a route on a much smaller scale. Just my experience

My sub is 3 months in & not going to hit his '90-working' anytime soon. He works ONLY my Saturday and Amazon Sundays. I don't think he even got to work this past Sunday since some subs were called to not show due to low volume of pkgs. He's not bothering to care about the job & keeps screwing up. A few of the other subs hired about the same time are also being limited to their primary only. Nature of the beast. You just never know when your Reg is going to need off.

Since you are 'super new', it's not likely other offices will accept your assistance, but you never know.

You'd be surprised. I told a PM about one of our newer green-as-can be subs and he said that a warm body in the case is better than nothing. And he was serious. It can take a terrible situation and upgrade it to a bad situation.
