NRLCA Reaches Tentative Agreement with USPS for Three-Year Contract

PTFs are guaranteed 2 days therefore they are guaranteed 16 hours of pay every week. It’s not possible to guarantee that in a 1-route office & in a 2 or more route office, the office would be required to change to Formula.
A Reg agreeing to change their Relief Day to assist in acquiring a PTF position retains the right to take back their Saturday at any time leaving that PTF without the 2 route minimum.
Also, since we have J & H routes, those also stand in the way of acquiring PTFs as they cannot be assigned to any as part of their String.

Again, all offices would be Formula & the PTF position would have to be redefined to mirror the City PTFs.

I get that PTF stuff would all have to change, but you have to do something or you are NEVER GOING TO SOLVE ANYTHING.

Doing something like I propose would allow RCA ability to get to full time status soon and probably help maintain carriers. Wash rinse and repeat won't work nor will the :poop: :poop: :poop: :poop: :poop: :poop: process of hiring people right now.

What I am saying is this. If you are on H route, they should force RCA to work Saturdays that they aren't working on other routes a few times (not every single one necessary but still force them to work a few)
If they are not working available rcas to schedule time off or relief days - that's your grievance. Ant RCA can cover a route. They may not be the best at it but, they can cover a schedule vacancy.

Sounds like your mgmt is possibly not following the matrix or the order.

Management is doing their part emailing other office and so on but NO ONE ANSWERS. What are we suppose to do when people don't want to send their RCA?

Can't edit. 1 route office. So no issue with RCA and or matrix/order. Pretty simple. We can find someone but always someone calls off and they get forced back to their office and I get screwed.

Example: work 2nd job and had to work it on Saturday. Had person lined up. 6pm person tells sorry regular calling off tomorrow. I HAD to work other job. Had to deliver 2 days of mail with help was only option.

If I was in this fight, I would be more interested in being able to fight next time than being able to win this fight now. The Rural Carriers have already been sold out. The Rural Carriersare not likely to come up with a plan to win at arbitration because they are kept in the dark about pretty much every thing that does not directly have to reach them.

If you want to fight you need to set conditions to end the fight. Contrary to popular belief those conditions do not all have to be with the USPS. They may also be a demand for an MOU from the NRLCA .

I don't even think you have to do that totally.

2 ways to go about this.

#1 think about all of the H & J routes compared to K routes right now. You make those carriers work some extra Saturdays. Like in my area, there are at least 4 H routes that barely work any Saturdays. I know of a few routes that are K with no subs.

When RRECS 1st started, we lost over 16,000 K routes. 9700 went H and 6400 went J. That's a lot of extra subs not working Saturdays. I'm not saying just force them to come to my office and every single Saturday because I have no sub. But these subs should be willing to work elsewhere and help out here and there. I hate to guess how much extra money USPS has lost because I have worked 2/3 of my Saturdays since becoming regular yet there are hundreds of RCA sitting at home doing nothing.

#2 Instead of their BS "$1 an hour" after 3 years. Why not go by hours worked to determine if RCA can be a PTF.

If RCA works let's say 1500 or 1700 hours (MAKE UP A NUMBER) in a full year, they can become PTF. But to keep PTF status after that you have to work minimum say 1300 or 1500 hours a year afterwards (FIND MAGIC NUMBER). This way for example, if you have RCA in like an office like mine with 1 route, they can still have the ability to become PTF.
Yeah.
Last year I worked 2580 hours and didn't even scratch out 60k.
And moving basically stole my previous 9 yrs as regular.
509 hours of OT and NOTHING to show for it . And they wonder why subs quit? No time AND no $

Yep and my proposal is more than fair IMO because there are some RCA who just want to be part time. It allows that while allowing those like you to be a PTF. It is simple and fair way to do it. Do it based on your hours worked.

I was hoping for some more transparency in RRECS as well as some time standards being more fair
See Bold above. The rural craft is working on average, 4 to 5 hours under evaluation each week! To make time standards "more fair" would require making letters worth 100 per minute, flats maybe 30 per minute, parcels maybe 20 seconds only with no to door credit. Drive time has gone from 2 minutes per mile to 3 minutes, should go back to 2?
The standards were done by engineers and we still beat them all to HE..!

So they quit and union be like

We gave them an extra 1 dollar an hour after 3 year. What more could you want????

Genius.....
Yeah ATCBige.....forcing rca's is a recipe for disaster, and blue_goose1384 has been designated as a genius several times on here, and every time it's been with a sarcastic point of view, so consider the source. Forcing the few RCA'S we have is not working well in my office. We have had 3 subs and 2 regulars being directed to a hellish office 45 minutes away, and it's a real CRAPHOLE....We all finally told the pm we ain't going over there, and why, and that the pm was gonna be replacing all of us if pm pushed it....guess what, now we get asked if we want to go, and sometimes we do, but it ain't often. So forcing good HARDWORKING rcas into bad spots, or places is by far the dumbest idea I ever heard, but trust me it's not blue_goose1348's first one....and I'm sure there will be more.🙄🙄🙄🤠

Oh I was being sarcastic too about the union response to them being forced elsewhere well we gave them an extra dollar. They can't want anything more now.

That would be how the union response to it.

You do know mgmt is able to carry, right? If you need a day off and that is the only option...tell them to saddle up. They might like the change. And file a grievance for the day off. Ask your steward not to settle below step 2 to get districts attention.

Maybe ask pm for a stack of the new hiring leaflet. Pass them on to anyone you think might work. Hang them up at apartments, town bulletin boards.
