One box two addresses

I've got one like that, pm asked them to change to two boxes, they don't want to so they didn't. I don't know if they can be forced to but I wish they would, im 35h and need every box!

You probably can, but I don't think it's a battle worth fighting if that's the way its always been.

They can receive mail in one box for 2 addresses but packages need to be addressed to the one that has the box and mapped to reflect that.

Have a few single home owners who rent/sublet part of the home. Some have chosen to get separate boxes some refuse to. It’s not a battle that is worth the time and energy. I do have these individuals come in to PO and talk/ sign with PM in case something happens. Otherwise if they refuse that PM is adamant they get A PO Box.

That's not a separate address if they are sharing a residence and want mail separated. But they can have 2 combined. The 2nd address even comes in dps with the 1st address. Not sure how they did it but it is in the post office's favor not mine.

It comes in dps as ie 525 b 525 a it is separate addresses just sharing a building much like an apartment. They have to have it this way or city code won’t allow it.

Our District made the PMs enforce a separate box for each address. Don't know if Union pushed issue. No more drops in the edit book. PM sent a letter out. Boxes were put up.

In that case the fight would be worth it imo. Just a matter of getting your PM on board. Starting out with the possible issues and liabilities plus a drastic increase of complaints. Should be enough to at least get PM to send a letter out.

I have one that is two separate houses on the same property with separate addresses in edit book (6695 & 6705), but share one mailbox. Won't put up a box for 6695 because their farm equipment always takes them out. Why pay for two new boxes when you can get away with one? I'm getting credit for 2 boxes so it doesn't bother me. Shared mailbox/stop in dpm, but 2 separate park points and package delivery points.

3.2.9 More Than One Family Sharing a Receptacle

If more than one family wishes to share a mail receptacle, the following standards apply:

1. Route and Box Number Addressing. On rural and highway contract routes authorized to use a route and box numbering system (e.g., RR 1 BOX 155), up to five families may share a single mail receptacle and use a common route and box designation. A written notice of agreement, signed by the heads of the families or individuals who want to join in the use of such box, must be filed with the postmaster at the delivery office.
2. Conversion to Street Name and Number Addressing. When street name and numbering systems are adopted, those addresses reflect distinct customer locations and sequences. Rural and highway contract route customers who are assigned different primary addresses (e.g., 123 APPLE WAY vs. 136 APPLE WAY) should erect individual mail receptacles in locations recommended by their postmasters and begin using their new addresses. Customers having different primary addresses who wish to continue sharing a common receptacle must use the address of the receptacle's owner and the "care of" address format:

C/O ROBERT SMITH
123 APPLE WAY

Customers having a common primary address (e.g., 800 MAIN ST) but different secondary addresses (e.g., APT 101, APT 102, etc.) may continue to share a common receptacle if single-point delivery is authorized for the primary address. Secondary addresses should still be included in all correspondence.

I kind of got the opposite, have 2 boxes sharing the same address. It's a farm with the parents having one box and one of the kids having another. They are on the same parcel of land. The boxes are about 120 feet away from each other. The only way to distinguish between is the name, Mom and dad at one box, son and family at the other. But like said above, 2 boxes, 2 drop off places for parcels.

Yes you can, they either need to use the address assigned to that box or put up a new box. I’ve had people who refused so I put their mail on hold for ten days and then returned it, no mail Receptical.

If new box does not appear. Change location in Edit Book to code Business.

This also makes primary box receiver responsible for all COAs.
