one week down, 3 days to go

Ran one full week of "the island" aux route. I dont think I did too bad. finished with 40.17 hrs. Eval time is 34 hrs for the 6 day week, 5.67 hr's per day. Times ran as such.

Sat (first day on route)                        7.17  (1.5 hrs over)

Mon (PM did a RT inspection)               8.92   (3.25 hrs over)

Tues                                               6.33   (0.66 hrs over)

Wed                                                5.58   (0.09 hrs UNDER)

Thurs  (flyer)                                    6.5     (0.83 hrs over)

Fri                                                   5.67   (0.00 hrs over)

I cant say it's not a pleasant time here, but this is the first time I've ever gone into overtime. Granted I wouldn't have if the PM hadn't of done the RT inspection. I still feel crappy about it though. Not really sure why, but I do.

Maybe I have missed something on here (possible for sure).

If you can say,  where is the "island" ?

Looks to me like you did good, especially since you're a newbie. You got faster at it as the week went along, which is exactly what's expected. I bet if you ran it all of next week, you'd be right on that weekly evaluation, maybe even under.

Isn't that where they hid the Red October?<img title="Laugh" alt="Laugh" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif" />

Actually you may be making too much information public.<img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />

Vinalhaven is a really cool community. If it wasn't on an island I would take this job in a second. There's one bar (the sand bar), owned by the daughter of the newly retired carrier. Almost everyone introduces themselves as (insert first name here), (insert box number and street here).

Man, I'm tempted to go back to RCA status and move North.  Just looked it up...looks a little like Great Cranberry.

Do you have to ride the ferry back and forth?

I am being housed on the PO's dime (they got me a motel room on the island). I think you probably could catch the ferry back and forth daily and still get the route done, but the PM said you'd have to live on the island. Gas here is 3.07 a gallon.

Oh no, I would definitely live there!  I just wondered if you were going back and forth.

Wonder why the PM said that?  In case the ferry doesn't run?

Oi veh -- "no, I would definitely live there!  I just wondered if you were going back and forth.

justasinger -- What was it like on the island during Winter Storm STELLA?

Sign me up for that RCA spot, and aux.  I would gladly leave my regular route for it.  Have had enough of the office nonsense where I am.

justasinger -- STELLA occurred 12-15 March ( depending where one was ), so you missed being on the island for it.   I'd have to say the island was affected - at least by the winds.   Most of the coastal areas were spared the snow but got rain instead.  A good bet that both ferry and plane service were disrupted for a day or more.  People in the office or you customers can probably fill you in on the details.

When u said island I thought U were referring to one of the hawaiin islands. Lol. I think gas there is like 5$ a gallon. I know a box of Froot Loops is 8$. But the view is spectacular!
