Opted Route Requesting a Sub

I didn’t say THIS site. I was referring to your Documentation from training, your jump drive, your Contract, & the NRLCA website & app. You should give your DR a break & research the grievances on your own. I rarely speak to mine unless I have an issue that I cannot resolve on my own or am sending one up to Step 2.
Half of mine go to step 2 because the only supervisor I’m allowed to consult to settle grievances won’t settle them. I’ve only been a steward six months. He’ll get a break when I take over his job. ?

It’s funny. In steward training, my DR says these sites provide a lot of misinformation and to “be weary”. I don’t proceed with any grievance without consulting my DR first. I talk to him almost everyday.

Really? Your DR says to be wary of sites like this one? Wasn't it your DR that told you RCA's in leave earning status were entitled to the same day off as the regular? (wrong) Was it your DR that gave you the NALC reference? (wrong again) Right after you posted those inaccuracies you were corrected and given the right information. Some of the people posting here are stewards and have been doing this for decades. They usually know the right answer and when they occasionally make a mistake someone else here quickly corrects them. Sounds to me like your DR is the one you should be wary of.

Yes. He said a lot of time the sites will post inaccurate information. He was just saying to research what you read. And yes he told me they are entitled to the same schedule as the regular would have. Considering he’s my only option to go to for help and advice, I don’t have a choice but to follow his instruction. He’s been doing this for 11 years. ??‍♀️

There's always the contract and supporting documents...;)

Perhaps what he meant was RCAs are entitled to a relief day (but not necessarily the same as the regular's)...
I don’t see how this could be because the issue at the time was that I was working a J route and wasn’t getting every other Saturday off when there were subs available. He said the J day has to be Saturday, and I’m entitled to it. This was when I was designation 74. He said I should be getting the schedule the regular would have provided there is a leave replacement available.

There is no documentation in the contract or elsewhere that states an RCA must be given the assigned Relief Day of the route they are holding. The Contract simply says that mgmt must allow a Relief Day if requested & other leave replacements are available OR if mgmt requires it.
It likely will remain a “grey area” until someone decides it’s important enough to file a resolution for clarification.

Guess someone should tell him that.

Believe it or not, there are DRs, ADRs and local stews who don't know the contract...and/or lack reading comprehension.

Maybe you could be the one to point it out to him.

Since right on the top of the Order of Consideration is a statement saying the document is the position of the NRLCA and is supported by the contract and other language cited, good luck with them bringing out the Crayolas to add some color.

Unfortunately, a lot of mgmt out there won’t honor the Order Of Consideration. They see it as a Union document & not binding. Mgmt tends to follow it when it benefits them. ?
