Are there any positions at all that an RCA can bid on or transfer to as an RCA? I'm starting year 10 next week with no end in sight and I'm over it.

ruralsub123 -- "Are there any positions at all that an RCA can bid on or transfer to as an RCA? "

--  Aside from transferring to another post office as an RCA, officially there is no where to go without resigning as an RCA.

--  However - comma - RCA's have posted that a supervisor or PM somehow got them into CCA or PSE positions.  Unfortunately, details how that was accomplished was never provided.

--  Numerous postings as well as news articles that the USPS is reducing APWU positions.

--  If considering the NALC or APWU, do your due diligence.

--  Any post offices in your area that may have a better chance of making regular?   Just remember you'll lose any seniority when voluntarily transferring to another office.

They are now posting management and other non-craft career positions on the careers page of the website. These positions are on there and offered first to current non-career employees. Of course this is after the same positions are offered in ecareer and couldn't be filled on there. I've seen some 2 and 3rd tour plant management positions come up on there myself.

Of course other positions on there will give some preference to current and prior postal employees first as well. Aside from those options, you're kind of stuck where you are.

Thanks, I will continue to check the website...we have 15 routes 5 subs...3 are on hold downs. I've been all over my supervisor for months about becoming a formula office...we do meet all the qualifications...but for whatever reason it seems impossible to get anything changed.

--  Time to get the Assistant District Representative involved.   A "kind" word from the ADR usually can get things rolling.

As a regular I would be on the supervisor to be working to hire more subs. I do not want to work in a formula office. I am aware of times in the past the union has been able to stop implementation of a formula office. I do not want to be stuck with the lightest mail day of the week being my day off. By mutual agreement with management a regular can pick what day he likes the best. I will not say my days off as they are rather unique.

I can see you would like a regular schedule to work but the contract does state every route should have an RCA. I was a sub for 6 years.

Not a lot to be said.  Very very few offices it seems has the sub for every route worked. All offices should be a formula IMO. Massive problems keeping subs under the every route mentality and all the posts about subs being needed prove it. If every regular keeps saying well i had to be a sub for xxxx amount of years and ITS my god given right to get whatever day off i want, nothing will change. This day and age and the nature of the current RCA job if something does not change it is only going to get worse. As a regular gets more time in and moves up the seniority chain, he can get Saturday or a day he likes but atm maybe formula will help subs stay and make this work.
