Parcel Assistance

Are there rules to be followed when a supervisor calls an RCA for parcel help? Is he to call the senior RCA first? Or can he call his favorite RCA? I know the matrix is for working a regulars route but is it used for parcel help?

Our PM asked for volunteers. Included aux route carrier in the text. Couldn't guarantee more than 2 hours so I decline. Auxie carrier ended up working 6.5 hours.

as usual, not sure of the rule or if there even is one.

Same procedure for Sundays, asked for volunteers. Not interested in working 2 hours.

We have a few carriers who were "injured" on the job (aren't we all?). One comes in works off the clock, gives sub all parcels and spars, on their way home at 11:30 am. Another cases for a awhile, then sits in an office and plays with their phone. They are essentially retired.

Ok, so I am senior sub at a nine route office + an aux route. Today supervisor called two junior subs to run parcels for all routes and did not call me. Tomorrow I am on the aux route and will have a discussion with him. If he asks for documentation, do I refer him to the matrix?

I always think... if they'd split the route and give me help like they do for my sub, then hail, I'd really never need to take off.... whatever happened to the idea that subs are expected to accomplish what the Reg would if they were working.... doesn't it say that in the PO-603???
No it most certainly does not DB!! lol

DB.Cooper and Sandygirl et al -- "whatever happened to the idea that subs are expected to accomplish what the Reg would if they were working.... doesn't it say that in the PO-603? " and "No, it most certainly does not DB!"

-- It it does say that in Step 4 ( F-71 )!

-- In part: Accordingly, the substitute should perform the normal duties on the relief day the same as the regular carrier on any other day.

-- Of course that is from the last century - 1988 - long before Amazon and DPS and FSS and nannyscanners and there were not many routes with LLV's.

-- And "normal" in 2019 is a far cry from what "normal" was in 1988.

Same crap in my office, I'm over it. Should have filed, didn't, paying for it now.

The Matrix? My PM thinks it's a movie.

Clueless on what to do, the matrix is a living, breathing paper.

Can be updated in 3 keystrokes.

The Operational Wizards of the Machine are a Generation + behind the times from LLVS to Parcel Volumes. Just saying here... The $ spent for the new scanners took precedent over spending those $ to fast track a few more NGDV so a choice can be made. After all they have been testing the few NGDVs for 2 years and to the best of my knowledge did zero in the field testing for new scanner with us. It proved to me Tracking us with this new hyped scanner is more important than our safety over providing a delivery unit to us to handle the parcel volume.

They can Fast Track a new hire, so why not NGDVS?
