Somewhere in the back of my really tired brian, I remember that after 125 pieces of residual mail, we get paid extra for the actual time to case excessive residual mail. I can not find referece to this, would someone be kind enough to a remind me where it is actually cited.

Thank you.

Okay, here is the reference you are requesting.

However, please take note that this is for DPS letter mail only and NOT the trays of raw letters that I have seen many on here confuse with DPS. Many think just because they received a ton of raw letters that they are to be paid for said raw letters. Clearly NOT the case. ( pun intended ) The compensation for DPS , whether POV or Govt. vehicle, is ONLY for DPS letter mail that is severely out of order ; tray was dropped, every second or third letter is mis-sequenced, etc. When you receive all that raw mail, your only remedy is to request a DPS quantity review which is what every...

What about when you receive ONLY raw letters, no DPS mail?

If you are a DPS office and you are on DPS standards then the same would apply. DPS quantity goes by percentage and on a given day you would have 0 pieces of DPS and whatever number of raw letters you received. Pretty much a guaranteed win !!!! If you received DPS every day of your most recent count and then received none during your review even on one day, cha-ching !!!!

They have 30 days to start the review right? By then the issue will be over/fixed.

I'm talking about the offices that have been receiving trays and trays of raw mail (NO DPS) because the plant is behind/mismanaged/sabotaged/who knows.

I am not and do not necessarily disagree with you. But I can tell ya' what the NRLCA is gonna tell you. If the tray tags that come with the mail are NOT marked "DPS" then that mail is not DPS letter mail. Now, SHOULD it be ran in DPS.......ABSOLUTELY. All this nice typed out, barcoded, nothing at all wrong with it mail that comes raw is just absurd. Also, that mail will NOT be on the end of run report. That letter mail will be considered raw letter mail. Should a local NRLCA Rep. go to the plant and find out why this is happening ? Absolutely !!! If the issue is not corrected that day upon the visit from the NRLCA, I would expect no less from that Rep. to hand out DPS review forms to each and every carrier he or she could.
With respect to your 30 day question ; well , sorta kinda' but not really. Yes, they must start the review within 30 days but must count all delivery days within a 14 day calendar period. So , they can't wait too long to start because there will not be enough days left. Of course, if they do wait, then you win by default.
We are getting the raw mail in my office. It ain't right on so many facets.

"If a carrier ... is required to case all or a significant portion (125 pieces or more) of the DPS letter mail, due to machine failure or other problems, additional compensation will be provided in accordance with the following formula ...
This means it was processed as dps and then a tray fell and became disorganized. You would be able to tell because chunks would be in order and other parts out of order. If you’re getting trays of raw, that’s not dps and no additional compensation is given. Ask for a dps review.

I disagree. That reference to DPS/RAW by jiminy Christmas is one instance where Management's gray area bites THEM in the ass. More to the point, machine failure OR OTHER PROBLEMS. During previous counts, DPS is pristine, so any raw or working mail, eg or example given, that I work by hand, over 125, I get paid 8127, and have for years.

Not according to my DR. He said it’s specifically references mail that was processed as dps and then there was a machine error or a tray fell in truck. As a carrier, you’d clearly be able to tell it was dps and not raw.
