PM says other offices need help.... how does that occur?

How do you choose the people under your domain that actually work? Is it like Juniority when you become the new regular? Lets say another office calls ours and asks for help? How dos our PM choose who works? According to the contract we must go BUT who goes? Does the PM contact the Auxies and ask if they wanna go to another office? or do they start with the most senior RCA and work through the newest rookie and then go back to the Auxie last ? Who is chosen and how to go the office 50 miles away?

More likely to get more response from anti union people. No matter, they'll all tell you to grieve it.
As a long time reader of this forum I can say it mostly depends on local management and what guidance they have been given. Didn't notice any written order of consideration for it so most often it should be offer by seniority and mandate by juniority. Expect some places to operate under the theory that scheduler will make whatever choice they want.

In my APO /RMPO group... it's always the same person who gets farmed out.... I guess the others either don't know, or don't care.... no skin of my nose either way....

This same pet used to do most of the late parcel running.... but they've pretty much axed that money waster.... ?

Thanks for all responses, I understand more clearly now. Not surprised no "matrix" for this but seems the Seniority to Juniority mandate is probably the norm if there is a norm.

A year or so ago, one of our RCAs volunteered to help out a neighboring office when they called and asked for help. The next day, the PM from that office called our PM and told him to never send that RCA to his office again. So if you're an RCA who doesn't want to be farmed out, your performance (or lack thereof) might keep you from being asked to go there again.

Nowadays, they're going around our office asking Regs if they're planning on being off certain days.... and if not, then they're gonna loan out an RCA... I guess this may be the wave of the future.... I'm guessing they're paying mileage to offices further away than their regular office....

According to my nut case PM, these are the rules:

"That is none of your business who I have working.

I can schedule anyone I want, anytime I want and anywhere I want.

I'm sick of you and have had enough. I'm writing you up for insubordination."

They'd be further ahead to have a Volunteer Work List.

RCAs that want to work, provide a list of all offices within 50 miles, and sign your name to that list. List contains RCA K assignment and all offices willing to work in. List gets sent up to a database and PMs can view list. Schedule could be on that database and show all available RCAs for any given day.

Any decent programmer could have this up and running in less than 3 weeks. Heck, an app could even be developed. You check it every morning to see which offices need help and put your bid in that morning, first come first serve.

This makes way too much sense.
