PMG: 84% of city delivery routes and 52% of rural delivery routes are operating at a loss.

I swear, the latest senate hearing with the PMG said he had enacted a hiring freeze... hmmm
I think the current freeze applies to non-bargaining/management positions, subject to daily change of course. Management has octagon shaped mouths and talk out of every corner of it.

My office has 4 regulars and 4 PTFs for four city routes. Somehow they still end up short on people occasionally. On average, the mail that they deliver on any given day is half or less than a rural K route, not hard to see why they're underwater. From a time standpoint, walking is the most inefficient form of delivery.

I was thinking today, what ever happened to that postal banking idea? We've got about a 30 mile stretch here currently between brick and mortar banks, and there's a dozen or more rural communities in the area that still have manned post offices. But I'd guess the big private banks likely have far too much lobbying power to ever let that happen.

Let me do this comparison.

NLCA top step at 40 hours $83,226 and takes 12.4 years to get to top step. They are get time for working as PTF towards the steps.

NRLCA top step at 40 hours $77,213 and takes 13.4 years to get top step.

Who gets the better deal??? Answer is pretty clear to me.
Our only benefit is truly the ability to get finished and go home if the opportunity arises before reaching the daily eval rate.

Also don't really know how many routes run at 40 eval, so your not quite on target, but i agree with the sentiment. Most of my area are 43s with a few above here and there.

It was just the fairest way to do.

Compare pay at 40 hours for each.

Plenty of routes in my area that are 43H or 44J and so on. Is that really more pay or more working day to get paid????

Only thing we have is the ability to leave early as you said.

City carrier high 3 at retirement does not include any over time, based on 40 hours only.
Rural carrier high 3 at retirement includes the overtime in the weekly evaluation; any evaluation above 40 has the hours above 40 paid as overtime each and every pay period.

It’s a moot point because it will be included in their SS calculation and will be made up there. Their OT also makes it easier to max out tsp.
