Pressured to file grievance

Maybe I'm being naive, but it might not require a grievance. How about making a phone call to the ADR or DR and letting them know that maybe seniority isn't being following in this office with the awarding of the aux route. They'll be able to check everyone's Entry on Duty date and maybe a simple phone call to the postmaster will get everything in order.

It would be nice if things worked like this, but they rarely do. Management will probably need a grievance to do the right thing.
The RCA tried the nice way. Asked PM to look into it. We all know the "junior "RCA was transferred to our office BEFORE the 90 days of hire date. The checks were going to the other office originally hired at. In meantime, supposed to be senior RCA was hired in our office. But PM put the transfer as senior, and our hire as junior. I think it's grievable IF PM doesn't change the seniority list. Aux is 5 hr and will go up as soon as my rt gets counted and cut. Plus another 150 houses that we know are platted and will eventually be built.
Thanks for input on this.

It’s also worth noting that these same carriers have been really working on me to join the union. It was just 2 and now there’s 3 of them telling me I should file and also that I am basically stealing from our craft because I haven’t joined the union. I do know that one of these 3 lives to start crap and even told me themselves to “watch, I’m about to start something” and proceeded to go stir up another RCA. I just want to do my job and I’m sure I could file a grievance but I’m the newest RCA at our office and I can’t help but think they’re putting me up to it because they don’t want to get their hands dirty.

It’s funny too because I actually know a lot because of this forum and all of you guys but most carriers I talk to in person can’t even tell me what’s in the contract. I’ve mentioned this forum and basically get blank stares like they have no clue what I’m talking about.

Im so grateful I’ve found you all!!
Hope you don't feel like I hijacked your thread, just having similar issues in our office. Except, we aren't throwing our RCAs under the bus. Sounds like your regs are. Get armed with info before making decisions, and the union is expensive, just saying

Excuse my ineptness here... How can an RCA who is not covering an AUX run have more seniority? If this other RCA passed on bidding on the AUX run do to whatever reasons. Does that now make them more Junior to the AUX coverage and the Matrix? If they refused to bid when AUX came up for bid. Should not it be NO AUX award now?

If this more Senior RCA transferred to this office based on date of hire I can comprehend. I am also aware of if this AUX needs coverage and no RCA has opted to cover it. It goes to the most Senior RCA in mix available first before transfer.
Sorry, should have gave more info.
RCA on aux was transfer. Management between 2 offices moved him BEFORE his 90 days. Cause he couldn't do any of their routes. They knew we had aux that needed covering. At time, was 3 hr.
Soon afterwards, we HIRE RCA. She knew nothing about his transfer.
PM retired.
Now it's 2 yrs later and seniority is looking more important with our growth.
We (2regs, 1clerk) tell hired RCA, Hey you better get this fixed. Plus, she expressed interest in the aux, so we tell her about the transfer that was done "under the table".
Hired RCA tried nicely to get it looked into, but PM either forgot it doesn't care.
So, maybe grievance?

You should join the union.

Again, I'll ask the question: where do you think the knowledgable posters on this board get the information they share with the rest of us? It doesn't appear like magic to them . . .

If you do decide to join the union, opt to pay dues by check, not by payroll withholding.
If you decide to leave the union later, it makes your life so much easier.

(I don't know how table two and table four peeps can afford it from their checks. Those pay tables are a draconian farce.)

I tell all new hires about this site. I'm so glad this resource is available to them. The community here will make sure they have all the tools necessary to survive postal reality.

flash -- "RCA on aux was transfer. Management between 2 offices moved him BEFORE his 90 days. Cause he couldn't do any of their routes. They knew we had aux that needed covering. At time, was 3 hr. Soon afterwards, we HIRE RCA. She knew nothing about his transfer."

-- Based on the ( questionable ) transfer RCA ( male ), who got to the office first, got the AUX, and obviously was hired before the other RCA ( female ), don't see how the female can have a seniority problem.

-- APO / RMPO situation?

-- Having been 2 years since the transfer, even if questionable, let your ADR doing the heavy lifting to straighten things out. And good luck with that with one PM retired.

-- Does the USPS or NRCLA have a statute of limitations?

I won’t join the union until my probation period is up which is soon. If I do join, I won’t let them deduct from my paycheck. I just don’t like being pressured into doing anything.

I totally agree with you.
This forum is both helpful and informative - very much unlike the FB groups.
Most of the people here have the WISDOM from either theory or experience OR both.
You get details, rules, information, and facts from the Manuals they tell you and/or their personal and professional experiences - not mere ( mostly judgmental) opinions from people who pull things out of thin air (on FB groups).
