slikkrca -- "are rural carrier ptfs required to split or pigtail routes"

-- Not sure what "to pigtail" routes means.

-- Check pages 47, 49, and 50 of the new contract for what PTF's can be utilized for / on.

As "PastOThirty" posted, consider yourself fully abusable.

They can put you anywhere anytime. PTFs are like managements pets you no longer get to choose what route you are assigned to they do. You are also first on the sunday mandate list(after the unseen ARCs)

Basically a PTF is an RCA with some benefits like SL and AL but with some major drawbacks. Also if you dont take the PTF positon when it comes up you are skipped in seniority. PTFs are automatically converted to regular when a route comes up for bid. Hence if you think you can maintain a AUX or RCA position while someone else bids ahead of you on a PTF position you are being skip to go regular.

I think our office has made 15 maybe more PTFs in the last year I expect more because the PO is so great at hiring people.

so basically a ptf can be used and abused just like the rcas doing things like splitting routes, coming in at 5 or 6 am to deliver parcels etc. only difference is the benefits . wow also and a drop in hourly pay wow

Our office is about to have 2 PTF positions available & we're being told that if you get the position you are considered career & can bid on jobs (like at other offices). Is this not true?

NewbieTexas -- The PTF position:

-- Is a career position. Page 3 of the new contract.

-- A PTF can bid on other district-wide PTF positions. Step 4 ( P-115 )
