Currently an RCA with only 1 day a week, I come in every time I'm called and worked 2 weeks straight during the holidays, I am not scheduled for this weekend but today I get a call from PM telling me to come in tomorrow, however this time I can't. I'm out of town for 2 days and then I'm told that will be an unscheduled occurance. This doesn't seem right considering I was never even scheduled for this day! Any thoughts?

it is an unscheduled occurance. it is unfair i agree.. the pm will get over it.. lesson learned: if you have a couple days you want no calls for sure, get a leave slip signed, if pm doesn't like that idea, get back to us.. the rca job is hard to stomach sometimes.

If you are to be out of town put in a leave slip. If not rejected within a day or two assume accepted. Have had PM's ask 'Why are you submitting a leave slip as you are not scheduled' --- AND THEN call for coverage when I am eight hours away !! Remind them to look at their own desk calendar ! Some of them are not called manglement or stupidvisors for no reason !!
You weren’t, and now you are. Keep this in mind, being an RCA means you can get called in virtually anytime without prior notice.
Here’s a tip, don’t answer your phone. Let it go to voice mail. And then decide if you want to deal with it.
Being hard to reach isn’t a fireable offense because; “Has progressive discipline been properly utilized in the case of termination due to ....” can be written on a grievance.
