rca designation 74 question on sick leave

I will try to keep this simple but I am bad at doing that, so please go easy on me.I am designation 74 on a j route with 43 evaluation. One week has overtime the other week has a relief day. I have read a rule that sick leave cannot be used if it gives you overtime? So is that true for a route that has overtime worked in? EX. I took 3 sick days last week. if each day counts as 8 hours, that is 24 plus the 3 days I worked puts me at 42 hours? This coming week is a holiday on monday. so i am trying to figure out if I need to take a relief day this week and get paid for the 42 hours last week. or if the third sick day last week will end up being a relief day and I just work everyday this week.I hope that is not confusing. I am bad at this type of thing. Thanks for any guidancejay

Personal experience was on a K route when I had 6 sick days used and worked 5 days in a pay period and had over 30 hours overtime paid.  It was during Christmas overtime period though.

I would have to research, but I do believe that the only time you worry about overtime is if it's over 40 hours worked in a week for an RCA or over eval during the no overtime Christmas period for regulars.  For regulars only, during that time period, if any leave is used, it counts toward overtime. Can you tell us where you read that rule for easier research purposes?

On a 43 J route, the daily evaluation is 7:49.   So you actually took 23:27 in sick leave.  As an RCA your actual work hours determine OT.   So if you worked the other 3 days in 16:33 actual hours, then your sick leave would give you 40 actual and you would get paid  7:49 X 6 days or 47 ish hours........ paid at normal pay rate, not 1 1/2 times for the other 7 ish hours.   You probably used about 24 actual hours the 3 days you worked. Since 74 use sick leave in whole days instead of hours and granting the 23:27 sick leave hours would put you in OT status, you probably will be put down as a "lwop" day, or "relief" day in effect.   Check your sick leave balances for the 2 pp and compare.    AS to relief day for the upcoming week, that's a good question that I can't answer. However you will be paid 7:49 hours for each you work this week unless your actual hours are over 40.
