Rca missed deadline

So, I am number 2 in the office. Number 1 did not realize there was a ptf position posted online and in the office below the schedule. He is now feeling shafted and is claiming management did not state on the pa system that there was an opening. I did not hear about the position from anyone. I saw it online and then noticed the office posting after. He is claiming that they are being biased against him. Does he have a case and do they have to verbally announce it? I did not hear any such announcement but I may have been loading my parcels. He said he was going to have the union fight it.

-- As long as the notice was posted in the office, RCA #1 is out of luck. Likewise if #1 did not look for possible bids on the internet -- still out of luck.

-- If the PTF position was in #1's office and #1 was not aware of the previous PTF moving on, certain #1's fault.

-- My last post office had a specific area where routes / positions bids were placed ( without PA announcements! )

-- One might say Irish eyes were smiling on you.

So there is no verbal announcement mandate? I completely agree that I shouldn't have had to tell him to bid. I dont blame him for being mad. But it's not management's fault. Only the guy in the mirror. I feel bad for him but not guilty bc I did things by the book. It's not like a manager pushed me to do it. Like I said I happened across it never expecting to see an opening.

Mgmt is not required to verbally announce any bid postings. They are only required to POST the bid posting in the office. As long as the Posting was properly done where all can see, it is valid. Mgmt would have to admit to HR in writing that they did not post the Bidding to get it rebid. If Sub #1 does file, be sure that the Union Rep knows that it was posted as required. If mgmt had only verbally announced but didn’t post, THEN a grievance could be filed & won & the rebidding would be immediately on the next possible Saturday.

posted below schedule?? and no one was talking/bitching/crying over another ptf/formula decision/hiring?? sounds funny(not) to me.. just saying...

Thinking of Bidding... I’ve seen quite a few peeps NOT bothering to get their PIN # to Liteblue. Regardless of whether a Carriers ever goes on Liteblue, they should take the time to get that PIN. An article was in the last Carrier mag about Bidding & it states that the PIN # is necessary for Bidding regardless of the method whether online, phone, or PAPER. A Bid can be disqualified for not having the PIN (so I’ve been told).
That PIN # is needed when it comes to Healthcare choices along with a few other items that have gone to internet access only. Please stress to RCAs & fellow Carriers to obtain their PIN now if they don’t have it.
