Heard stories in office of rca who was a bridesmaid who couldn't get the day off for friends wedding.Rca who was getting married couldn't get the day off to try on the wedding dress. The mother of 2 kids who hadn't seen them in a week and a half. The new rca doing a route the day after a holiday on a route they had never done a week after training and told to put up everything leaving the post office at 3 oclock to deliver .Table 2 no benefits uh I don't think so.

The rca who came from another office to help came back about 1 ocock left everything at back door to office and whet home.rca who loaded truck got in car and went home never to be seen again. rca who did expresses, route and a half came back told to go back out to help said I don't think so.

We got a RCA in my office, they've called hubby more than a few times to drive them around... when a Reg asked if their spouse could drive them around when they had a vehicle breakdown, they got the stern, now you know that's not allowed...

Had an RCA in my office that was maybe 1/3 the way done casing his route basically said "fuck it" and walked out never to be seen again. Moron supervisor didnt know the guy walked out until leave time. Boy did that make a fun day.

Had another carrier resign because someone called him a "princess."

If a carrier has a just reason for having a "driver" while delivering, it is allowed. In a situation where a regular receives a DUI and has their license revoked for a period of time, they are required to provide a driver to enable them to keep their job. If any carrier has a vehicle break down and needs to have a driver and is refused by the pm, that carrier should file a grievance.

You have got to be joking? A DUI is "Just reason" to have a driver? Please tell me you're kidding.

Article 29 Section 5. Licensed Drivers Provided by Employee
In the event a regular rural carrier, substitute rural carrier or a
rural carrier associate in a leave earning capacity loses his or
her driving privileges and cannot be employed in the installation,
a licensed driver meeting the Employer’s driving standards
may be provided by the regular rural carrier, substitute
rural carrier or the rural carrier associate in a leave earning
capacity at the carrier’s option and expense for a period not to
exceed one (1) year. This paragraph is applicable to only the
employee’s personal vehicle.

Thanks Oi veh. Jft, no not kidding, but you are out of luck if you drive an LLV or were drinking on the job. In those situations you're toast. Vehicle break downs happen and for POV routes a driver may be the only way to make the money needed to fix it for some new to POV carriers.

Doesn't PO-603 say something about not having non-Postal employees in the vehicle??? I saw nothing in the above contract reference about temporary vehicle breakdowns... only addressing loss of driver's license... does anybody have a reference for vehicle breakdowns and having non-postal employees driving them around???

166 Drivers or Helpers
166.1 Unauthorized Passengers

Do not carry unauthorized persons in the vehicle while on duty nor employ a driver
or helper without the approval of your postmaster or supervisor.

You gave your own reference, DB. It is allowed with approval of the PM. My PM is actually pretty relaxed about this when the need arises, but he does get a bit pissy if he isn't asked first.

Yeah, I just wanted to let peeps here know it isn't just something they can automatically do without prior clearance... and as I mentioned earlier, I've seen peeps be told no... also have seen peeps do it without asking... so, basically it's like most things at the PO... depends on who you are, and nothing is ever done twice the same way, especially at diff locations... ?

Todays RCA visitor for coverage had a dispute with SUPER over what they could curtail because they only need to work the routes EVAL and be back in the office based on return time on 4240.

The 3 regs who were forced to work today because of no coverage, just stood silently watching and chuckling.

Yeah, it's that way at my office too... subs are used to doing wth they want... roll mail, wtf, no biggie, that mean old Reg can clean it up later... ?
