RCA switching primary

We have a new RCA in our office that was hired for an H route because that's the only vacancy we had at the time.  There is now a primary vacancy on a J route.  Can the RCA switch primary routes yet?  I didn't know if the 90-day rule applied here.

Thanks!

Yes, but it's offered in order of seniority. They don't have to be off probation. And they don't need prior experience or training on the primary.

littlesew&sew --  For something in writing, search RI's KNOWLEDGEBASE section for "matrix".    Should get 4 hits.   Click on "Leave Replacement Matrix Quick Reference".  #11 seems to cover the situation.

I was over (way over) the 90 days when I switched my Primary Route.

Three of us  had been covering it as the regular was out on a medical.

I was #3 in seniority at the time but the others didn't want to work full time.

I changed my primary to the route and 3 months later became a Step 74.

All I had to do was ask the PM.  She agreed but had to ask the other senior subs if they wanted it.

They declined.  Paperwork was filed (by PM) and a new form 50 came in mail a few weeks later.

Eventually it came up for bid and I won the bid as I was senior sub.  The other two RCAs had moved on to greener pastures.
