RCA Training pay 5 pay periods

I have read in our contract that new RCA's are supposed to be paid actual hours or evaluated hours, whichever is greater for the first 5 pay periods.

My last check and this upcoming check are both off from this. How do I go about getting the pay I should have gotten and how long do I have to do this?

Also, if carrying routes you've never done before, should you get the evaluated amount or actual hours?

r_becker -- " How do I go about getting the pay I should have gotten [ for working the 1st 5 pay periods ] and how long do I have to do this?"

--  How many hours did you work for the week?   One one route or more than one?  If over 40 hours, that might be a problem.  See below.

--  Politely point the shortage out to manglement.

--  If manglement says "Ooops, my bad.", then request the shortage show up in the next pay check.   If the shortage does not show up, contact the office steward.  If no office steward, contact the Assistant District Representative about going ahead with a grievance to be "made whole".

--  In fact, contact either as a heads up that manglement is not entering the correct pay data.

"Also, if carrying routes you’ve never done before, should you get the evaluated amount or actual hours? "

--  ANY time you run a route you never have run before - or have not run in over a year - you get actual time.

--  So it is a good idea to keep a log of routes run and the date it was done - just in case manglement is not aware of the "one year" rule.

1.  A newly appointed leave replacement rural carrier craft employee will be paid the greater of the actual hours worked or the evaluation of the route ( up to 40 hours ) for the first five pay periods.

3.  A leave replacement utilized on a route which he/she has not run in the past 12 months will be paid the greater of the actual hours worked or the evaluation of the route ( up to 40 hours ).

Thank you so much!

Sorry, I didn't reply sooner, I was called into work for the last couple of days and didn't have a chance to log in.

I do another quick question.

I did run a route I have never run before, because the regular had an appointment. She did come in and case it for me, but I ran it.

She said she fills out the 4240 for her time in office and I was to fill out the 1234 green card for the time I ran. Is this correct? How would it normally be handled?

Guess that's actually 2 questions. LOL

Ummm no, all the way around.  Regulars take leave in increments of one day.  This sounds like a sweetheart deal this regular has going with the supervisor.  There is no way to pay the regular any other way than a full day of work.  Interesting.

I've been told that by some others, but wasn't sure how true it was.
Wish all this stuff was a little less confusing. :-)
