RCA's and Flexibile Spending Accounts screwed again

Flexible spending accounts help you save money.

USPS website says only career employees can get them.

BUT...FEHB ( who administer FSA's) says differently. AND usps has to follow FEHB rules.

FEHB says " To be eligible for a healthcare flexible spending account, you must be employed by an agency that participates in FSAFEDS and be eligible to enroll in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHB), though you don't actually need to be enrolled in FEHB. "   This is the key. After one year an RCA can enroll in FEHB BUT has to pay full boat price. That's why no one does....BUT YOU ARE ELIGIBLE.

I brought this up years ago to Duke Street...I actually called them. And the response was that this issue had never percolated up to them...So I said..."I'm Percolating it now."  We had family concerns at the time and I did not follow up on it. I wish I had.

So    Here is a benefit, which costs usps nothing.

A small bone which would actually help keep RCA's.

What does usps and our union do ?????     Zip.

ps When i first saw this idea I was an RCA. I applied for an FSA. Fehb turned me down because of the USPS rule about only career.  I called FEHB and brought up exactly what I've written above.  The guy at FEHB personally told me I had a great case and to pursue it within usps.

Those who go to union meetings.....Bring this up. Start pushing.
