Hello... IF I were to leave USPS, I'm curious what happens to the FERS account and the TSP account.... ie, what are my options? I've been full time since MAR 2020. TIA!
Your TSP is essentially the same as a 401K. You can leave it as is. Or you can roll it over into IRA or your new employer's 401K.Hello... IF I were to leave USPS, I'm curious what happens to the FERS account and the TSP account.... ie, what are my options? I've been full time since MAR 2020. TIA!
Thank you so much for the info; totally appreciate it!Your TSP is essentially the same as a 401K. You can leave it as is. Or you can roll it over into IRA or your new employer's 401K.
You could also cash it out. That comes with tax implications.
Your FERS contributions went towards a pension.
You could leave it alone. Then file for a Deferred Retirement after age 62. ( Don't know your age)
Deferred Retirement
You could also get a refund of the money you contributed to the FERS system. This would make you ineligible for a pension.
