I would never recommend being a rural carrier today
I order dog food and cases of water all the time. I used to mumble under breath at "those type" of customers.One accomplishment I can claim since retiring is, I've not been inside a PO, and actually, I don't think I've even bought a postage stamp...

I didnt check my mail box for 4 days.. when I did, I just started laughing..I thought to my self, ohhhhh...im one of THOSE customers now

My mailman milks that RRECS beast, stops at mailbox even if there's no mail and such... wth, I don't blame them.... Had I not been close to the exit, I be padding everything I could as well....

For 36 years I drove 30+ miles one way to work. My local po is 5 min from my house,theyrevthe nicest people ever!.. been there 2x bc of express mailing stuff for retirementOne accomplishment I can claim since retiring is, I've not been inside a PO, and actually, I don't think I've even bought a postage stamp...

I bought 2 books of stamps to carry with me on the route before I retired... never sold them, and I mail so few letters, I still have most of them... if I ever run out, I just buy some from my mailman... I hope to never go to a PO again... LOL ....

It’s skewed because the question includes current retirees, some who retired well before all the *!$!* started hitting the fan. IAO I would recreate this poll to include only those who are still working. You’d see more 57s or younger..

There are some still working who projected going to 65+... one guy said he's not going until about 30 years from now... LOL... good luck with all that....

Thought the same thing
I was home 2x to help, the last time the FedEx driver tore into my stone driveway, ran over my lawn and I canceled before he left the driveway. Chewy responded with a questionnaire and asked if it was bc of delivery..lol..yes, but it was FedEx
My reg mail carrier is awesome but planning on retiring in June

I had the same issue with a FedEx driver rip roaring up and down my driveway running off the driveway and doing damage... they hire some real losers...

I think before they enacted the PAEA nonsense in about 2006, USPS didn't lose $$$$ money

Not only that but, the new PEHB also took a toll. If you will be forced to Medicare at retirement, some are just bailing now.
