retirement and disability

fellow carrier forced to retire due to health reasons. 63 years old. But only maybe 2 years as a full time carrier. I dont know all the details, or what questions to ask, but he came to me for help. Its been a year and a half since he last carried a route. The post office cant seem to process his retirement. Im not even sure if he is eligible for retirement? He wants to be retired, and we cant hire anyone until he is, and rcas are leaving because they can get to regular carrier status elsewhere. Any way I can help him? I have given him the district reps number, but nothing still got done.

If they are a member have them contact John Embleton at the national office. Even though they are past 62 they will need to apply for disability retirement because they have less than 5 years. Disability only requires 18 months and would continue up till they could qualify for retirement at the 5 year mark.
