Route adjustment

So all our routes are overburdened. We have a manager that is just concerned with saving a dollar on her budget. We have a carrier who wants a route cut. She was a 46 and request to be a 43. After completely putting her edit book all the way in she was a 48. Management of course blamed her. So now it will be added to the aux route who is at 40 hours already. Management is now telling the aux carrier after adding 60+ boxes to his route it turned him into a 42. The issue is she has done this to all our routes and we are literally working until 7 at night. I was in 2080 and was forced to use leave. She cut all our routes from last mail count. Is there anyone else that can cut the route? Is there anyone else we can go to? I am so tired of fighting with this postmaster for simple things. Thank you for any help.

Crack open the contract, article 9.

You didn't give any info tho. You said all routes are overburdened and all routes have been cut.

What classification is your route now?

Is the aux route still an Aux or an H?

Did you need leave for 2240? Im trying now to get my 2240 leave converted to administrative leave. Were you offered aux assistance to keep you from working over 48hr? If not, you can grieve for refunded leave in the amount of hours you weren't given assistance.

So is the issue that you were cut or that you feel the cut isn’t accurate? Once a route is officially overburdened, District will hound whoever to cut it. If you feel the cut isn’t correct, request a route remeasurement/inspection in writing.

I didn't need leave for 2240. I needed leave for 2080 which I had to use a total of 13 days and I did grieve it. I got a total of 3 days back because I was at 2056. So only the days I didn't need to use. My route is a different route but was a 46k and while I had to take those days an adjustment was done and went down to a 45k? Go figure? Only thing I could find was I lost 6 boxes but I also gained 4. The total time for 2240 was only 7 hours more.

When the routes were cut it was the mail count that was mandatory years ago. Same person did them. Now a route went up to a 48k she requested it be cut when she was a 46k. The aux I think is 40 A route. Now turns to a 42?

This is an interesting topic for I hear a lot of carriers who are getting older and don't want all these hours wanting a cut also. This would be a godsend for those who are trying to make it to the finish line. The only thing that I know is if your 55 and older and not making an evaluation or maybe PM potentially could work with the carrier which in your case doesn't fit probably because you have an aux route ready to go full time.

Reading between the lines, I think they have nowhere else to put the extra hours without making what is now the aux a full route or even possibly , the aux would become overburdened. As the aux becomes a regular route an RCA is lost, which is a problem replacing. Also if all of the routes are in a high hour K status and should be cut, it sometimes is not so easy to make the routes make sense. Sure you can cut a piece off of here and there, but having carriers traveling the same roads to cover parts of the same neighbor while on different routes makes district cranky. They want routes squared off whenever possible. It may be beyond the postmasters capability to do the calculations. There are usually specialists are the district level that do these types of adjustments.

This is true, as most Supervisors/PMs will take the quick easy way to adjust. Not taking into account squaring off. It is hard to do sometimes as Vol factors being so different. But I can tell you now doesn't matter what the adjustment comes out to be, you can never make everyone happy. It really is sucky.
But if there is a lot of territory being moved around more rts will be involved and rts could be almost completely different by the time it is said and done.
