DrZuff -- "I have just accepted an RCA position at a station that claims I should make regular in 2 years."
-- If you want to see them sweat, ask for that in writing!!
-- While it may be true, a lot will depend on the age and health of current regulars and or if the area is experiencing rapid growth. Nothing to keep you from asking the current carriers how long they have been there and their future plans. Also, you will be the low person on the totem pole, so everyone who sticks it out will make regular before you.
-- Certainly could be that your office was short on subs and would say anything to get you hired.
-- Also, never believe anything anyone says about bidding or not bidding on a route.
-- Once you make regular, all you have to do is resign and take the test for the city side if you want to switch.
-- In most cases, those who choose the city side make regular sooner - but not always.
-- If you are determined to join the city side, best to look for a CCA position now.
