Saying Goodbye to the Post Office

Well, after almost 10 years at the Post Office (3.5 as a Regular), the end is near for me. I came home from work on 3/28 after my route went from a 41K to a 43J 😏 and started looking for a new job. I found an opening at a University nearby that offers decent pay but also a 95% tuition discount for me and my family. This school costs $40k/yr. I have 2 girls and just couldn't pass that up.
I had an interview 3 days ago and they offered me the job today. Giving the PO my 2 weeks tomorrow morning.

THANK YOU everyone here for all your help and support over the last few years. I learned so much from all of you. 💜 You all made me laugh when I needed it and answered all my crazy questions. 😅
I'll still visit here every so often just to check in. Everyone stay safe out there.

Congrats and heartfelt to say yet many carriers nationwide are doing the same as you with this new system. All the best to you and your family.

Happy for you . I wish you best of luck from bottom of my heart

Congrats! That sounds like the absolute best choice for you and your family. I'll be behind you soon, metaphorically speaking.

This job is bad enough with a good boss, but the past year with a bad one sent me to the edge, and with impending route cuts in our office it will be the last push I need. 48k for the last 5 years of being regular and never 2080 issues, most of year I pull under 40/wk. A cut to 43k will knock 12k off my income and take 5-8 years (depending on growth) just to get back to what I make now and that would then be the top. No thanks.

Going to be self employed, taking my time to get myself 99% situated which will take most of the remaining year, but with this prep work I hope to be fully ready to go. hoping to give my notice right about during the rise of the peak season.

RRECS made me retire. It's a crazy, unfair, deeply flawed system. The first carriers to have Amazon screamed and hollered for a new method of counting, and this disaster was the result.

Best wishes. I'm certain your USPS experience will come in handy in future patience levels😁

I always applaud anyone who overcomes fear of the unknown to improve themselves. Congrats!!
I'm a little nervous just because everything will be new. But I just keep telling myself it's for my girls and I don't have to worry about weather and animals anymore! 😅

Good Luck to you on your new path. 💜
I already feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders knowing it's almost over.
