are post masters required to post a weekly schedule of who works where? pm has screwed up schedule..again..and i know where i m working tomorrow. but saturday and next week is an unknown. would be kind of nice if i had any idea of where/when i was supposed to be somewhere..

They are to be posted with current week schedule and following week. This does not mean it is always correct. They need to change the schedules as soon as they are aware of any changes made and repost. It is your job to check the schedule when in office(s) to see when/where you work. If you are not on the schedule for certain days and something happens they will call you. Not necessarily in advance. You might get the day of AM call.

I submitted leave slips for next Tues/Wed off this morning when I walked in. By the time I left to deliver I was informed approved. When I got back after run today the new schedule was up and all other offices in mix were alerted of the changes made. I also got a call from the RMPO RCA and they saw they are covering for me on my way home and thanked me for taking this time off.

-- Of course they are!!! How else would RCA's know where and when to work. Regular carriers should be told of some unexpected change -- mainly if they have to work a relief day, because they know when and where they will work.

-- The BIG problem is there are no specifics as to WHEN nor WHERE the work schedule should be posted. ( at my last PO, the schedule for the up coming work week ( SAT - FRI ) would be posted no later than COB Thursday by the supervisor's desk -- even then it could change daily or even hourly for RCA's )

-- Article 8, Section 2 -- Work Schedules. Daily schedules SHALL be established to coincide with the daily evaluation of the route and adjusted periodically as required. ( wink, wink )

-- Article 30.1.G. Scheduling. In part: Scheduling IS the responsibility of the Employer. Schedules SHALL be realistic, based upon the receipt and availability of the mail, route evaluation, and other related service considerations. The rural carrier will receive reasonable advance notice when the schedule is to be changed.

-- Step 4 ( S-18 ) in part: The parties agree that scheduling is the responsibility of management. Except in emergency situations, when management deems it necessary to change of modify the intended work assignment or a leave replacement employee, management will make reasonable efforts to notify the employee in a timely manner. ( more wink, wink )

-- M-38's Section 332.1 Scheduling - General. Proper scheduling depends upon the intimate knowledge of operating concepts ( e.g. mail flow ) plus a complete awarenets of the opertaional characteristics of the unit. ( it would appear some members of manglement lack a certain "intimacy" )

-- M-38's Section 332.2 Carriers' Schedule. The carrier's reporting and work schedule should be planned to prevent lost time.

-- Plenty of data indicating manglement is responsible for scheduling work, just not when and where to post it!!
