Sub hours

So I'm Not sure if anyone has heard of this one for this time if year but... in my office, hours for substitutes have been severely cut back, like to the point where we are only running the days we are guaranteed. Management won't do parcel runs for overburdened routes which is causing regulars to hit 12 hours. In previous years I had worked so many hours this time of year I'd be practically crying from stress and lack of sleep. Wth is going on???? Are subs no longer allowed overtime?

Guin et al -- " in my office, hours for substitutes have been severely cut back, like to the point where we are only running the days we are guaranteed. Management won’t do parcel runs for overburdened routes which is causing regulars to hit 12 hours."

--  I'd look for that policy to change -- and soon.

--  Probably close to $14 BILLION was spent over the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend.  That equates to a LOT of parcels that someone will have to deliver.  If manglement depends on the regulars to hand the load, it confirms some of the ideas about manglement's mentality.

--  And no doubt, regulars will be getting visits from manglement regarding the Eagan List 2080 projection before the new year arrives.

The Christmas overtime period begins this Saturday, so maybe management was cutting sub hours to the bone ahead of time in anticipation of the hours you're going to get starting next week.  You know, making the numbers look good.

Same here, as a sub last year I cleared 2000 dollars in December on a paycheck. Making 17.40 that's pretty good although It's not December yet but I can tell I won't be duplicating that again. Worked 36 days in a row (minus Christmas day)

Edit: in case you're wondering, alot of those days were easy days running packages in my own vehicle and collecting EMA

It will pick up this Saturday I am sure.

My boss has been getting in trouble for having RCA's come in to run parcels this week.  We have been getting over 1k parcels per day for 4 routes so the carriers obviously need help.

That's almost comical. Must be a district thing. We're in a big office and all OT peeps are working this week AND next week to allow subs to just run parcels and routes with K-days. Our District head is in our office constantly & buddys with our PM. ?

Hope things get better for you.

I am certain that the OPs issue is due to mgmt saving up for next week. Funny... Regs working long hours daily will likely get them into OT by the end of the week anyway and those days over 12 hrs dips into OT also. Doesn't really save too much $$ if the Regs hit 56 hrs in 4-5 days.

Thanks for everyone's responses, I think our manager was trying to make the numbers all nice and pretty as someone else said. But as a sub my hours are definitely down from last year. I was working 60hrs + per week this time last year and only got a day or two off in between thanksgiving and Christmas because I was pregnant at the time and sick as a dog and begged them for a day off. The hours have increased since my post but I still am lucky to be getting just over 40 hours. They will definitely drop after Christmas.... at the same time I'm not sure it matters for me at this point since I got news today that I will be making regular after the holidays!! Yay for me!
