Unemployment. Route Consolidation.

I am an RCA carrier that will lose my 6 day a week Aux route that will be consolidated by a senior carrier's aux route. That will leave me with no route and back to being a sub 1 day a week. Can I get unemployment for losing my route? Or am I disqualified for unemployment by not being a full timer. I've worked about 25 to 30 hours a week but will be bumped down to 8.6 hours a week after consolidation. I've had an aux route for about 1 year. Will I lose my annual and sick leave? I've haven't used any of it.

I can't say to the "unemployment pay" but as to your AL & SL, the sick leave will be on "hold" until your in leave-earning status again and your annual leave will be paid out soon after your sub status change.

My thinking on unemployment would be no since your average 25-30 hrs/week is part-time hours. Just a guess. Good luck!

Call your state unemployment office. The rules will vary by state and it is feasible that you could receive partial unemployment based on the hours you worked.

Agreed check with you state unemployment office, in Iowa, as long as you have enough time worked to qualify, you can get unemployment and the weekly amount is based on what you have earned for the last 18 months.

I got it when i was a sub and went from a hold down to 1 day every other week.  It was very easy and I was able to claim on weeks that I didn't get hours and when I worked enough in a week, then I still called it, but didn't get any thing on paid to me on those weeks.  Claim stayed open for a year, so as long as I called in every week the claim was open, I was told if I missed 3 weeks of calling in row, it would close and I would have to reapply.
