-- Probably one of the hold over "built-in's" from the past as most of the counters had gone home by the time the carriers were returning to the office, so it was never addressed.
-- Apparently one of the items the RRECS study engineers overlooked, so it will actually be another "built-in" that RRECS was supposed to eliminate.
-- Or be a part of the growing "End of Shift Office Duties".

How about time for unlocking the door to enter into the office? Another carrier in our office said that we are supposed to get time for unlocking the door in the morning and afternoon. I have read the mail count book several times and I don't recall this being mentioned anywhere. Is this true?

I was aware of this rule but I'm not finding exact verbiage for unlocking/locking the doors. We have to unlock the back door every time we enter and exit the building every day. Apparently there's a TON of things that we can/should get credit for that we are NOT being made aware of.
@magnolia72 - have you ever been to a mail count training? I know they probably weren't offered for the special, but you really should go when you have the chance. Management is NOT going to make you aware of what you should be getting credit for. Not unless you have a really good PM.
Also, go over to the main site (ruralinfo.net) and take the mail count quiz. You'll learn a lot.
Finally, go over to the knowledgebase and start reading the heck out of everything mail count related.
You still have a week.
And you can dispute your count.

So just looking for clarification on this since I feel this can be read two separate ways.... (I have hope that one day these MOUs/settlements will one day not read as if a freshman college student wrote them.)
Does this go into affect ONLY if you have to make two trips to unload your truck or if you have to walk 50ft or more in order to obtain equipment needed to unload your vehicle? If you need to walk 50ft+ for a cart then I definitely qualify for this. If that's the case do I get timed for it or is it a one time measurement?

"when more than one trip is necessary to unload the vehicle, the time to obtain a conveyance may be approved by local management"
I am reading this as if you can't carry everything in your arms in one trip and you often have make more than one trip to your vehicle, then you will be timed and measured to obtain a buggy in order to make 1 trip.
If indeed, you need to get a buggy, then anything over 50 feet from your vehicle shall be timed and credited for both minutes and distance.
"The distance beyond 50 feet will be credited at .00429 minutes per foot and recorded in Column 17, Other Suitable Allowance. The measurement will be from where the carrier unloads the vehicle to the location where the conveyance is retrieved (roundtrip)."
You may want to touch base with your DR.

Thank you for the response.... it is not possible to make a trip into my office carrying everything. I HAVE to go into the office, get a buggy then come back out and load said buggy with all my trays, outgoing etc. Then come back into the post office. It is WAY more then 50ft from my truck to the area where they keep the carts.

Why is it always 50 ft? seriously if you're doing the job no matter what the footage you should get something for it once again free crap we are giving. Sorry, it is only 49 ft so you don't get credit.

I believe the 18 minute credit for reloading has to do with bringing mail up from the rear of the vehicle, you can't stack all the mail and parcels within arms reach from the start to end of a mail route. This 3 minutes a day is a pitiful amount of time compared to the actual time it takes to bring mail forward in your vehicle each day.
