VERA Rumors

Was handed a breaking news update on a Vero for management..with no incentive...the postal service is consolidating their districts and going from 67 to 50..so 17 managers can leave in their own or.....?there was more on the sheet but that is all I can remember...
It’s posted on lite blue
Our district is consolidating and they had a meeting this morning with all the bigwigs....

I went through the restructuring info. My district is still a stand alone but its full of politicians and $$$$$$$. So, less disturbance for the locals. To me, it looks like a lot of thought was put into this on simple traffic routes. How far is too far to have oversight of transportation and team members. The structure is similar to 1990's districting.
I'm glad they are putting marketing under a central umbrella, about time. Enough of acting like a mom and pop chain.
It would appear mgmt will be posting for jobs. All jobs will be posted, not all mgrs will find a chair. Hope many were prep for retirement.

I’m sure it wasn’t a coincidence that also, yesterday, there were a bunch of EAS postings that were approved to be posted.

Yep, just because a mgr has a job now is no guarantee they will find a spot in combined areas and districts. Senior district mgmt everywhere has been jumping ship the last 6 months. The new structuring is going to more real work and accountability for those positions. It would appear- they have no interest in either.

I also understand that the VERA offer is only to those who lost a position in the consolidation, not just to anyone.
mall the more reason for me to believe DeJoy is actually for the organization not just a talking head... my reasoning is he’s not just trying to get rid of top people, who, like it or not , have a lot of years of experience..

All -- VERA = Very Early Retirement Available?

-- Over at postalreporter, there is an article on VERA.

- To avoid a R-I-F, the USPS is offering the VERA option to eligible non-bargaining employees at Headquarters, Headquarters-related, Area and District offices. ( in other words, offered only to those personnel who never touch the mail ) No monetary incentive. ( please - just leave because with the downsizing of the number of districts, it will be like musical chairs -- there will not be enough chairs when the music stops! ) ( And as "DB" would probably say - don't let the door hit ya! )

-- Also in the article: Friday Night Massacre at US Postal Service as Postmaster General -- a major Trump Donor -- oust top officials. ( the media just can't help themselves in tying DeJoy to Trump, even after 9 months ) ( feel free to chime in here, "DB"! )

Voluntary.... lol.... we eliminated your job so now you can "voluntarily" retire.... ?‍♂️

If they did a RIF, they couldn't have picked who they wanted to downsize....

Will anyone notice that these executives are no longer working for the postal service? I have often wondered what all these levels of management do. Local management has no say in sometimes ridiculous demands from district. Area overrides district decisions. A lot of redundancy.

Its always been astonishing to me how the po has this mindset of " stuff this box with this volume." Regardless of the size of each locations box( building) or the volume of the day. Well, some boxes are only 100sq ft, while others are hundreds of thousands of sq ft. But the mindset doesn't account for actual conditions. Truly the oddest thing I've encountered in the usps.

Everywhere else I've ever worked had backup plans for the backup plan. But, nope, not here. The senior staff haven't noticed the crew has jumped the ship.
