How long does it take for HR to contact me after background and drug screen? The postmaster told me he worked on pushing my paperwork Friday. Also how is training for RCA? Thank you

Paperwork pushed through on Friday?

Well the Government is pretty efficient, so you might be training by January, 2018.

Yes, that's one of the Govt's many motto's... hurry up and wait...  <img title="Wink" alt="Wink" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gif" />

I always feel a little embarrassed when these new people show up and see how jaded everybody has become... <img title="Embarassed" alt="Embarassed" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-embarassed.gif" />

But, there's a thread on the RCA Forum on this web site (RI) that is titled "Pro's and Con's of being an RCA"... I think that reading that thread should be a requirement for all new RCA's... might give them just a bit of an idea what is ahead of them...  Jmho... <img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />

The newbie for me was hired mid July. Starts 1st phase of training next Monday for my route. Told me 1st phase is driving test. No longer pass or fail for LLV. Trained until comfortable with driving can. Next is a few shadow days with me. Then back to school for rest of training.

Training seems faster. When did the mid July hire actually apply for the position?

They were HC sub. So background check already done. We were short 1 RCA for coverage. Management knew when a REG was retiring at the end of June knew my sub would be the hold down until route was awarded. Management approached them about the RCA position mid May. Took test and passed.  The only thing they had to again was the drug testing.

Took about 2 weeks for me. As for training: orientation for 2 days (sexual harassment, safety etc), 1 day shadow carrier, 1 day defensive driving class, 1 day LLV driving (drive around parking lot 3 hours, drive in town for an hour, in-town driving test 1 hour), 1 day carrier academy
