Waiting time question

Yesterday I had to wait about 45 minutes for Amazons to be thrown.  I don't think I get credit for that, am I correct on that?  I did keep track of it, and had it recorded by the counters on our count sheets...just in case.

O-H-S -- "Yesterday I had to wait about 45 minutes for Amazons to be thrown.  I don’t think I get credit for that, am I correct on that?  "

--  Most likely.   However, IF you were pulled down, the vehicle loaded, had no other duties to perform, THEN you might be able to get some compensation.

--  Step 4 ( W-9 )  In part -- What a carrier is required to wait for only DPS letter mail or other mail that does not require casing, including, but not limited to, PARCELS or boxholders, has not other rural carrier duties to perform, including the strapping out of ALL cased mail; and is prepared to depart the office to effect delivery, the carrier will be compensated for the time the carrier is required to wait.  ( probably would apply any time of the year -- except during count )

--  If you had a counter who was willing to time you to load, good for you.  However - comma - manglement will no doubt point out that you don't have all your mail yet, so can not do that last pull from the Hot Case on your way out the door.   And there would still be the need to get timed for the last of the Amazon parcels to be loaded and returning the buggy to its designated spot as well has signing out on the 4240 or swiping out, if swipe cards are used in your office.

--  Might as well get timed to do other things such as work on the Edit Book or checking the Hot Case while waiting for the clerks to throw parcels.

--  Or do other untimed events such as reconcile counter sheet numbers with items on your work sheet or take a bathroom break.

--  But keep writing down the wait time on the 4240 for future reference.

I didn't have any mail pulled down.  I had all the mail cased.  Sorted into piles, corresponding to parts of my route, the non-Amazon packages that I had.  Then I stood there doing nothing.  I wasn't sure if that added to our time for the count or not.  I thought it would make for an easy 45 minutes added towards the evaluation.

You can put wait time in Column 29, but it doesn't add anything to your eval...

Basically the same concept of counting time in Column 30... keeps it from showing up as part of your actual time during the count...

Column 29 - Waiting Time
Enter the number of minutes the carrier spent waiting for mail after the official starting time. The amount of waiting time recorded does not affect the route evaluation.
