What is the worst that can happen??

backstory- Our office was 9 routes and an aux all at 48k evaluations. We were all adjusted to 43k in November of 2024 making the total 13 43k and a 28 hour aux. In April most the routes came back lower (1 48k, 6 40k-42k, 2 j routes, 4 h routes two being 37h and the Aux of 21) side note the largest route before adjustment was 112 standard hours after adjustment 36H. we filed a grievance that we were not adjusted correctly and that too much territory was given away. Union told us we should of file directly after the cuts in 2024 and nothing can be done.

Questions- 1) How were suppose to fill a grievance when the only results of the cuts are 43ks?

2) During the mini mail survey in February 2026 we lost amazon completely with no signs of getting it back how will this affect us? (my route 40k average 230 packages before cut 180 packages after cut, and now so far about 40 packages for a little context)

Wwwwooowwwww....that stinks...all I can say is...Welcome to the club of daily getting SCREWED by the worst company in the world....yep...you guessed it...the good ol usps....and of course, the union is WORTHLESS, "Nope, nothing can be done" is the unions lifelong mantra...
I sure feel for ya. I'm not sure you got too many options....maybe ethelanne, the union supporter on this site can give you some advice.... I dont know...my advice is GET OUT OF THE UNION....but maybe someone else here can give you some advice. Hopefully so....there are a lot more knowledgeable peeps on here than me, Neciat, Old Fart, Gotrope, and a bunch of others, so hang in there, and dont lose hope. I know it's hard when you work for the usps which works so hard to steal our wages, our HOPE, not to mention our sanity, and our families futures....but maybe you will see a light at the end of the tunnel, and this time, it wont be a train, but maybe a way out to make your situation better my friend. I can't help you, but very interested in this question. I am about to be in the same boat. My office is similar to yours. We are going through route cuts. They needed to cut around 50 hours total, and ended up with 2 full routes. I am very concerned we are getting cut way more than to 43k routes.

I hope someone can help you out here. I will probably need the same help soon.

One ALWAYS files on ANY adjustment. 99.9% of these "adjustments" are NOT done properly. Also, when notified of a pending adjustment, that is when you put all of your thoughts, considerations, and recommendations together in an intelligently composed carrier input letter as you exercise your Article 30 contractual right ;

J. Carrier’s Rights in Route Adjustments

The regular rural carrier assigned to the route shall be notified
in advance of any route adjustments and afforded the oppor-
tunity to submit comments in writing. The comments will be
considered as a factor when such adjustments are under
consideration and before any decision is made. Substantial
route adjustments must be approved at a level higher than
the installation and, if requested in writing, will be reviewed at
the district level, except for adjustments to avoid actual work
hours in excess of 2,080 during the guarantee period.

Now, do "they" have to abide by any or all of your suggestions ? NO. But, as highlighted , your input WILL BE CONSIDERED. This is why in your carrier input letter, you respectfully request a written response as to why and or why not some or all of your suggestions were not implemented. When you get no response, that is just but ONE more issue that can be cited when you file your grievance. Also, since The PO and the union "agreed" to a formula for route adjustments, what one can do is take THAT formula and work your route by the vectors used in reverse. For example, "they" say that these 50 boxes and 6 miles is 2 hours a week. Okay, you take that value and apply it to ALL of your route and , according to "them" , it should equal the evaluation of the route give or take . Yes, there are the other variables such as EOS and loading but you would / should get an idea if this "agreed to formula" is even close. If you really want to scrutinize it, use your 4241M and look at the street and service times. the 4241A has that but it is all totaled. The 4241M details the time(s). Not saying either of THOSE forms are correct but those are the forms from which the numbers are used for the evaluation. See attached for the formula.
