What to do now. Day off

Because of rca shortage, my day off each week sometimes changes. One would think I could know this a week in advance. I asked both Monday and Tuesday what day I had off this week. Couldn't get an answer. I showed up for work this am. And there was an rca at my case. I guess Wednesday is my day off this week. Is there anything I should do about this situation?

im a regular. my day off is supposed to be saturday. but no subs available for saturdays. So i get i different day of the week off. usually thursday. but apparently no one bothered to tell me this week was wednesday. even though i asked..twice..
Um no. Regulars do not get a different day off each week. Jesus. If you’re in a non formula office, it’s Saturday and if you’re in a formula office it’s whatever day was assigned. You get 2 hours for showing up number one. Number two, you need to file two grievances. One for the schedule not being posted in advanced and another for management changing your K day without notice. Carriers days off do not change unless there is a change in leave replacements.

well its either this or not get a day off. pm says no relief available. so i file a grievance, and get an extra day. and then work 6 a week. or just live with it. im not sure which way to play it. but at least its ammo for the next time pm wants to file some stupid crap on me.

Insure that you are getting either a code 3 or code 5 for your Saturday work, that's step one! Step two, if you are using a code 3 on Saturday and are given Wednesday off that just means you are using the X day you just got on Saturday for that day. But insure at least a code 3 is keyed for Saturday so that you will earn 1/2 pay (extra) for that day! Its your right, make them pay for having you work your normal contractual relief day. This new PMG (Newie Louie) will be all over this as time moves forward, your PM should get on the ball resolving this problem NOW!

So I believe that is suppose to be a mutual agreement so if you don't agree with that day, just work it. Force it to be a problem for management (2080 issues) submit your 120 day letter and wait for the :poop: to hit the fan. Its not your problem, make PM work with you, force their hand to talk to you. Its like the old rat and the electric shock thing, if they don't respond the way you want zap them again!

It's so maddening that management all over does this with the schedule. One of the most important responsibilities they have and so many of them screw it up. If only so many of the supervisors and postmasters didn't have a Narcissistic personality disorder, maybe things would be different.

DACA 3 isn't mutual. It's manglement's discretion. They are required to give 3 days notice unless during the start of the guarantee year thru Christmas.

Ammo?

They accuse you of a safety issue, you fire back with improper scheduling.

Aren't you shooting blanks at a buffalo?

last time i filed 4 grievances. i now have 2. including a violation of one of the last 4. I dont know what else to do. I know if i file the grievance, suddenly there wont be any subs available for my vacation in 2 weeks. which of course pm never responded to in writing. that makes 3..

Schedule should be posted indicating that you are working your relief day. Ours shows a "W". It should also shows when you're off. Ours shows an "X".
In my mind the RCA should have been sent home with two hours pay or used in some other assignment.

i work at a single route rmpo. to hash this out would have taken a phone call and who knows how much drama. i wanted a day off anyway.

You need to file a grievance so management is forced to address the issue. They need to change your K if there aren’t enough subs or allow you your Saturday and then schedule a sub to run your route. Btw, if you’re not on the RDWL you can only chose DACA 3 at which point your X day needs to be scheduled within the same pay period or within 12 weeks. If this is the second time or third time you’re filing the same grievances, have your steward add a labor charge but still file a grievance until they learn to abide by the contract.

No! Management does not need to change the K day because of their failures. Management needs to hire an RCA, they also need to make a schedule. You know I always thought that one of the best things about being a "rural" carrier was having Saturdays off, unfortunately the lack of subs and with that the formula implementation Saturdays off are no longer guaranteed. Please don't suggest that management should change a K day (unless the carrier wants that) suggest that management do their job.

I don’t know a station that isn’t actively trying to hire. I also know carriers that gave up their Saturday for a day off during the week. Not everyone wants to have Saturdays off. In fact, in my station, we were offering Saturdays and it got down to the very bottom of the list before anyone took it. Yes, management should hire but realistically, keeping a Saturday is few and far between.

Can anyone give me an answer to this situation? Carrier been out 9 months with surgery, the assigned sub runs the route since day one, she now gets a K day, Regular carriers want that day as their X day but are told that they can't have it because they need the subs to run the K day that PM assigned for the RCA's K day! Also, does the assigned sub run the route till Regular comes back or should the Senior sub be placed in that position?
