johnwayne -- "working aux route. 6 days a week. 710-1145. going to be adding 30 more boxes soon. Where do i find the info on when/if i get a 15 minute break during that time? or..how many hours do you need to have a day to get a mandated break?"
"a mandated break"
-- Sorry, you must be thinking of the other crafts that get a couple of PAID 10-minute breaks per day.
-- By the way, NTFT ( clerk ) assignments of more than nine hours in a service day shall included a 3rd break excluding lunch.
-- Actually I am quite surprised RCA's who have in the past posted of working for more than a month straight without a break because of being in a sub-short office AND working Sunday parcels have not added their 2 cents.
-- The 30 minutes allotted for lunch is UNPAID.
-- Has any member of manglement told you that you do not qualify for a lunch / bath room break?
-- If so, direct their attention to an of the following:
- Page 45 of the contract: Rural carrier craft employees may stop for not more than thirty ( 30 ) minutes for lunch, the exact time used must be recorded. ( it does say "rural carrier craft employees" without specifying "regular", "RCA", "AUX carrier" or any of the numerous designations. )
- Column 6 of the 4240 is Labeled "Lunch Period Actual Time" without any mention of whom may use the column.
- Section 152.31 Routine Schedule -- You may stop for not more than 30 minutes for lunch, during which time mail and equipment must be protected. and so on.
- Step 4 ( L-8 ) in part: Lunch may be taken in segments of less than 30 minutes, at the carrier's option, provided the time taken does not exceed 30 minutes. Segments may be taken in the office or on the route provided the normal schedule is maintained to the extent possible.
- Step 4 ( L-122 ) in part: The parties agree that time for restroom is included in the fixed time standard identified as PERSONAL TIME on line 2 of PS Form 4241-A. ( 5 minutes a day ) Such time is NOT DEDUCTED from the NON-COMPENSATED thirty-minute lunch break provided for in Article 30.1.F of the national agreement and PO-603, Section 152.3.
"working aux route. 6 days a week. 710-1145. "
-- Probably some may think running a 4+ hour AUX 6 days a week might not need a break. However, there is a 30 minute lunch break just waiting to be used plus 5 minutes of personal time per day.
