When is the Matrix totally re-done

Just like the title, when is the matrix re-done for the entire office. After count routes went from H to J, k to j. It seams to me with the lack of RCA's and the new changes to the routes, for adjusting days office, all regular carriers should pick their top three and go from there.

Thank you in advance for your responses and if you could point me in the right direction, would really appreciate it

mollygreen -- "all regular carriers should pick their top three and go from there."

-- For starters, regular carriers are not on the matrix.

-- If there are PTF's in the office, manglement would assign the K-routes to the PTF's and the PTF's names would be filled in the primary position of the assigned routes. ( and no where else )

"Just like the title, when is the matrix re-done for the entire office. After count routes went from H to J, k to j. It seams to me with the lack of RCA’s and the new changes to the routes, for adjusting days office, "

-- Step 4 ( M-32 ) in part: When circumstances create a large number of blanks of the list [ matrix ] due to conversions, auxiliary route assignments, etc., management should review the list to determine if some movement of qualified leave replacements or additional cross training is needed.

-- Step 4 ( M-83.50 ) Q -- Is there a time frame for redoing the matrix?

A -- No. When circumstances create a large number of blanks of the list [ matrix ] due to conversions, auxiliary route assignments, etc., management should review the list to determine if some movement of qualified leave replacements or additional cross training is needed. ( Analysis of Changes National Agreement 1995-1999, page 25. )

-- Search for "matrix" in RI's KNOWLEDGEBASE Section ( when it is back up )

Thank you for your response. I guess my question without sounding a nincompoop, being that there are so many changes with these routes after count and less RCA's do the regulars get told what day they get off by management or are the days off redone for all regulars

Regulars with less seniority getting Sunday Monday off while senior regular is now told they get a Wednesday cause "That's what's left" Thank you

And I will look up those MOU's when the knowledgebase is back up, just need a quick answer now. Thanks again

Yes, all the regulars in our office have been told they may not have Saturday's off much longer. We have 6 RCAs about to regular, and that is just vacant routes. We are still waiting on the changes from mail count, but looks like our two aux routes will become full routes, then two new aux routes made. So a couple more RCAs will go regular then. We can't keep any of the new RCAs we hire, so there is no way so many will be able to keep their Saturday's off.

-- Sounds as if manglement at both offices are planning to go "Formula".

-- Even if that is not the case, get in touch with your respective Assistant District Representatives with what manglement has been saying about changing relief days.

-- Even if that happens "some" carriers will have a Saturday relief day -- probably J-routes and possibly a K-route or two ( without knowing the situation in both offices. )

-- Search for "formula office" in RI's KNOWLEDGEBASE Section to get a handle on what manglement has to do prior to implementing a "formula" office.

-- Has manglement considered creating "PTF" position(s).

-- Step 4 ( R-95 ) addresses Formula Office implementation guidelines. 3 other Step 4's inside the NRCLA.

-- Page 11 of the 88-page contract has the formula manglement needs to utilize. To "help" manglement, you can set up the formula on a spreadsheet such as EXCEL as a "check" on their numbers. Or just do it long-hand by paper and pencil.

-- With RCA's going regular, the Matrix may have to be "adjusted". Search for "matrix" in the KNOWLEDGEBASE Section too.

-- As with all dealings with manglement: trust - BUT VERIFY!

I didn't think that the matrix was ever Completely redone or thrown out and started over.

My understanding is that if the primary sub on a route doesn't want to switch then they stay where they are and can't be bumped.

If you add two more routes then yes primary subs would have to be added to those routes. At least that is the way it is done in our office.

The primary subs for new routes are offered by seniority if someone wants wants to switch to a new route.

It sounds like they will have to hire some subs or like @btdtret said perhaps they may be thinking about going formula.
