Where to go from here

So, I am sure most of you have noticed that I have changed the way I share articles from the NRLCA. The reason is I have received a certified letter from the NRLCA's lawyers. From the beginning the NRLCA has been against the Ruralinfo website, but this is the first time they have gone as far as to have the lawyers get involved. I am currently trying to figure out how to respond and what this means for Ruralinfo.net.

I will be retiring next year and I am not sure I have this kind of fight still in me. Not sure why they decided to do it after all of these years, but they did. So if anyone has any ideas please let me know. This would also affect the knowledgebase. They want anything downloaded from the NRLCA website removed from my website.

So, I will continue to try to figure out how to move forward with this or even if I will at all. Please know, no matter what happens, I will always be forever grateful to the support I have received from rural carriers across the country. It has been a long wild ride and all of you have made it worth my time and effort.

Wow.... of all the things they have done that I really didn't like, this one takes the cake.....

This will truly be a sad day if they somehow shut this site down.... I really hope that doesn't happen....

I've always felt this site was quite literally a lifeline for many in our craft.... I'm sorta baffled why they would be against something that is clearly a benefit for rurals....

So is it okay with them to provide links to their site???

You've built such a great reference resource here, it's a shame to see it dismantled....

The other unions seem WAY more open on their websites.... the NRLCA acts like they have some great website that nobody should be able to access without paying their dues.... I seldom go there as it doesn't seem very user friendly or well organized.... but, we can go get more open info at APWU and NALC sites.... seems really ridiculous....

Like the PT, I'm eyeballing the exit door.... and I hate seeing this resource for rurals threatened..... for me the discussions here have always been what I found most valuable....

Altho, if the NRLCA doesn't want references quoted here, then that would seriously degrade the quality of discussions here.... I can't help but feel this is just a part of the larger cancel culture we are now living in.... truly scary times.... :censored:

Thank you for providing the website and information over the years. You have provided a very valuable service for all of us that have worked the rural carrier job. It is a shame that the union that represents carriers and should want all information possible shared with the rural craft wants to punish you in some way for trying to help others.

If it comes to a fight with the NRLCA the fight would be multiple costs. The NRLCA board is able to afford the fight because it is not on the individuals dime. The membership is paying for it. It is a situation in which one may win and still loose.

Economic
time spent
legal.

This site is an amazing resource! We can come here to laugh together, cry together, argue with each other, and learn more about our craft as a whole.

As to why the NRLCA would be against this site and its obvious benefit to carriers. In my opinion, it's the knowledge we gain by coming together. Knowledge is power, and the more knowledge we, as carriers, have the more the NRLCA is shown to be inept and deceitful.

If there was any doubt that carriers should withdraw en masse from the NRLCA, this action should erase that doubt.

As the step 4 parcel overload grievance, RRECS delayed implementation, and continued parcel explosion continue with silence or vacuous platitudes such as "as soon as administratively possible," NRLCA chooses to waste their resources, OUR DUES, to fight ruralinfo. I guess we know how much us carriers being knowledgeable means to our union.

Are you planning to keep the site going after you retire?

They don't want peeps to be knowledgeable.... they twist stuff, like saying 80% of carriers supported the last contract.... a BIG lie.... they see this site as a reality check on their BS, and they don't like that.... also, mngt doesn't like sites like this where peeps can gain knowledge to stand up for themselves.... as @mwellis32 said, NRLCA is just part of USPS mngt....

And this is how they're spending OUR dues.... paying lawyers to hassle and shutdown at truly wonderful resource for rural carriers???? ?‍♂️
