Incredibly easy, especially if you live in an area with lots of rural routes and rural offices. It'll get to the point where you'll get calls damn near every day. I wish I had done this more when I was a sub. Two years ago, we had a sub who made more money than some regulars because of OT and Sunday Amazon delivery.

To transfer to another office yes.
Everyone says it's easy but I quit doing it now that I'm an established RCA and get more than 1 day a week at my office.
Constantly on new routes is kinda stressful. Reading the route description that's not always up to date and having to stop and read where the turns, turnarounds and business dismounts are, not knowing how to load your packages or which ones to bring up front when you reload...I feel like a newbie again. Its not hard but usually in for a long day.
When I'm on a new route I take the turn-by-turn papers and cut them into strips only showing the street name and direction I'm turning. So the little strips end up being about two and a half inches wide by 6 inches long. I then take rubber bands and rubber band them around the visor and stick those slips of paper under the rubber bands. With the visor flipped-down all you have to do is glance up to see what street you're on and then you know where you need to turn. I haven't seen anybody else do that but it works out really well for me. I transferred offices over a year ago but it was still within my city so it wasn't a big deal. I've been an RCA for 4 years. I'm number 1 in this office but number 6 in the city. If you transfer to another city make sure you have some chance of going regular soonish. 5 years or less. The new people here will probably never make it or wait 15 years. There's a lot of young carriers that went regular around 2000 or after. I should be regular soonish. Some of the RCAs before me waited 10+ years. Also consider being a clerk if you want to stay at the post office if you can't go regular within a reasonable amount of time. I wish I would have. Our union is terrible and I could have had benefits and so much more by now.
