X-days

I have recently been promoted from a Rural Carrier to a Supervisor. Does anyone know how I would get my X-days that I earned as a carrier paid out? I have heard so many different things about the protocol am not sure which is correct.

I'm not going to say I'm 100% sure on this but I'm pretty sure I remember this situation happening to a carrier. Almost positive you have lost the days since there are no "x days" for eas, you should have cashed them out before you made the change to supervisor. Don't believe there is any legal mechanism for you to be paid for the days.
sounds like you are perfect as a manager as you don't know the rural contract to well; not being mean or anything just telling the truth about managers. It's hard to supervise when you don't know the rules. I didn't know the exact rules for clerk and city pay for training when I went into a human resources position so I pulled up their contracts and read them as well as any joint administrative manuals. It can be an eye opener as minimum guaranteed hours can change from office to office and area to area and when you are dealing with 1/4th of a postal district, it can cost the PO a bunch extra if you don't know the rules. In my case, it was usually the only time I got an actual call from my boss when I didn't do it correctly.

To learn about the rules for rural carriers, read the PO 603. Then read the contractual administration manual as it actually tells how the USPS means for the contract to be enforced. (many will say it was a joint effort between the USPS and NRLCA, but it was written by the USPS and approved by the NRLCA, not a joint effort)........... It's the RCAM and is on the Postal Service's Blue page.

It can lead you in the correct direction of how X days are to be paid out. Also read the EL 312 about how your leave and other benefits change when leaving the rural craft, and other's crafts as well. EL 301 can be eye opening as well.

Well.....you should know....in my opinion, you just took a demotion. You arent gonna get a congrats from me either, because in 23 years I havent met a member of po mgmt that was worth a plugged nickel....you might be different, I guess we shall see. My advice, remember where you came from, hold on to your soul, your humanity if you will....and reach out to Worve on this site. He pulled a 6 month po mgmt stint, so can give you some pointers, like get out before you are ASSIMILATED....and look at this word. When you begin to be assimilated into po mgmt, you become the first three letters in ASSIMILATE. Try not to if you can help it. The x-day thing, you are supposed to be paid those when you resign from rca position, to take new position, but they sometimes run a bit behind on paying them out....usually 2-3 paychecks later, they get around to it. I'm not gonna wish you good luck, however, I do wish you a good life, and hope you can provide for those you love, in an honorable, and humane way, unlike how most po mgmt do.....I know first hand just how horrible most of them are, and I suffered beyond what any person should ever have to at their hands. May God pay them their just due, and I hope to be there when He does...

P.S. I'm not usually this much of a debbie-downer person, but your post struck a chord, and truely I have suffered at po mgmt hands. Most WORTHLESS, and EVIL, LAZY, VINDICTIVE, and SOCIOPATHIC bunch of people I've ever known, or worked with, and I'm in my mid 50's, so that is saying a lot...
