6 Day Work Week

We get told 7 days is the cut off.

It’s interesting as always how it seems to change station to station. I’m beyond dumbfounded that even here the rules change from our two stations and there maybe 10 miles apart.

( such example as one station saying we can’t touch the mail, and the downtown office telling us to grab the dps trays as soon as we arrive .)

Bottom line, contractually, an RCA can be worked seven days a week indefinitely.

I was unaware these laws existed.
My office loves to ignore state laws, OSHA rules and union contracts. [Sigh!]

I wasn't aware either so I just looked it up and this is what my states rules say "Any employer that requires an employee to work on a Sunday must provide the employee with 24 consecutive hours off in the following 6 days, or may face a fine". Now the next question is. Does it apply to federal employees? I couldn't find that answer!

My office says 7 days. They say that's what district says. Usually most of the RCAs are scheduled on 6 days/off 1. I was off last Friday and was suppose to be off today (Fri), but I submitted a leave slip a few days ago for a dentist appt Tues and OIC asked "Well, can you work Friday then?"

So by Monday, I will be at 10 days consecutive.

Our district, for any employee, regular or sub, six consecutive days even when crossing two weeks. Six days max, then mandated day off. Every time an RCA works six consecutive, we get an email from District wanting to confirm that they are non scheduled the following day.

We get the email here too. But I've noticed they sometimes get clever with "forgetting" to put time in the computer right away... so that district has no clue until after the fact that a RCA has worked 10,11,12... days straight.

e.g. I forgot to sign out after a long Monday (day after holiday). I've been on the same route all week so I fixed it Tues. But I don't think Monday OR Tuesday's time was ever put into the computer (not yet anyway). So district has no idea I'm at 7 days.

No. It doesn’t apply to us.

Does not apply to Government Entities. We do not follow State laws on work hours. We follow FLSA rules which are in our Contract.

FLSA pretty much avoided this topic.
State laws on how many days we can work would fill that void. And any confusion between carriers from other states. It make sense. We were told in the past we have to follow State and local laws at where we operate unless we can do better than that. Minimum wage comes to my mind.
