OT RATE

I added up my gross pay for periods 21 thru 24... then divided that by my actual hours, which came out to about $33 bucks an hour, so if I get one and a half times that for the OT rate, well, that'd be about $49 bucks an hour... lol.... bring it on, baby... ?

Its a little more complicated than that. Don't just divide your gross pay, that would be your normal OT rate.

If you work a 40k, that's 80 hours per pay period. Divide your gross by 80 and get your hourly rate. Now, if you worked less actual hours (say 70 each pay period) you would be making more per hour, technically. Conversely, if you habitually go over your eval, you will be making less per hour, technically.

I got lucky, and did some training during the guarantee period, and I had a week where my work hours were 32 (used a day of AL) and my actual worked hours was 22.

My hourly rate is about 32, which makes my normal OT rate about 48. However, since I worked less hours than my eval during the guarantee period, my OT rate is more like 53 for the Christmas period. 15 hours of ot per week, hey it ain't that bad! Of course my body is failing..

Worked my k day a couple Saturday’s ago. Ran into one of the lightest days of the year. In at 7, done by 11:30. $344 for the OT day, $76 bucks an hour. Bring it on, baby ?. Not gonna make that at Wally World.

I am working my K day and running amazon on Sundays, does all that time O/T count as "Actual" hours?
Appears they don't...

Overtime Rate

"The overtime rate paid to regular (FLSA Code B) carriers is 150 percent of the carrier’s regular rate. The regular rate is determined by dividing the total compensation received for hours actually worked by the carrier since the beginning of the Guarantee Year (not including overtime), by the total number of hours worked since the beginning of the Guarantee Year (not including overtime). This overtime rate is used for both FLSA overtime and Christmas overtime."

not that it's a secret. 44j step 12,do the math! But I work under my eval, so it's even better than that. ;)
Yet another reason that people have to take off after holidays and so forth, 2080/2240, OT pay rate, etc., etc.... how many $$$ good reason are there to wisely use one's leave????‍♂️(y)

So Russ I think I just got the premise of your question? Are you asking "By working all those additional hours due to being short RCA's and assistance lowering your rate of pay for the Xmas overtime period?"
I think so!!!!!!!!!!!
Does anybody have the answer to this question?
Talk about a double screwing, WOW!

See post #26...the blurb is from here:

The way I could be wrong reading it is that OT hours and OT pay (Sunday/Relief Day) aren't factored into Christmas overtime rate, but hours over normal evaluation (not busting 12/56) are.

Short answer: Only hours on your own route would apply to Christmas pay ot. Assistance, daca 3/5 and over 56 do not count towards calculation. Thank goodness. We have regular carrier's doing 15-20 hours additional assistance each week on other routes. Leave hours are also not added in as work hours- only during the 3 weeks of Christmas pay procedure.

It's going to be an interesting holiday. Already have other companies stuffing our boxes, using us as a return company for local document carrier's( no postage on items) we are having to PD, UPS has been overloaded and is dumping huge volumes on us.

I heard a district retail rep on a telecon talking about how many mailers are vastly ripping off the PO by claiming their parcels only weigh an ounce or 2, when they weigh much more.... they're applying their own postage, and nobody is checking it.... sheezy Louisy.... no wonder the USPS loses $$$ BILLIONS OF DOLLARS.... smh.... ? ?‍♂️

The plants have the ability to weigh and scan all parcels being processed on newer equipment. If it is an electronic form of postage, they simply surcharge the account for any shortage. IF the plant has personnel trained on the kick out bins for conveyor system.
I didn't catch all the details, but they were asking for spot checks of pickups by clerk sampling them and checking on RSS.... but, I guess the catch is, most offices don't have the time or personnel to do it....
