Mail Survey (Mini Mail Count): So Why Do You Think They're Tracking If We Take DPS to the Street or Not?

Anyone have any theories or heard any rumors? I watched the David Heather video and he did not elaborate at all on this part of the Daily Volume worksheet other than to say USPS management can track this info on us . . .

I wonder how I will be recorded in regards to DPS.

I case anywhere between 0-100% of DPS daily. It completely depends on if my parcels/flats are ready or if the "priority" parcel truck has arrived.

This week I had one day I cased ZERO DPS. I had two days I cased about 1/3. The other 3 days I cased between 1/2 and 2/3 of my DPS. Whatever they decide will no doubt have a negative impact on me......I guarantee it.

I won't elaborate on this too much because I just tried to think of the craziest outcome I could.
In a crazy managers mind....I truly learned this mindset from one of the best.

When they aren't winning grievances on forcing carriers to take dps to the street because they aren't going over their weekly evaluations enough, then I totally can see them coming at this from a different direction.
If they can prove a Carrier is doing something that isn't part of the standards of their evaluation, why in the world would they want to pay them for it?
Verify address is literally something we have to do when we are on the street. If you case dps, you are still " verifying address" on the street before you put it in the box.
When you case dps you aren't receiving any standard at all.
They could then even deduct the extra time you spent strapping out and have those times removed from total hours.
I wonder how many Carriers case dps that are in 2080/2240 issues?
I could totally see them not wanting to pay for casing dps at our discretion when we go over on our hours.
I take it to the street, everything I do is to support the standards I get paid. They can't do much when I go over because I am doing it the way they pay.

This is just an interesting screw job to think about. (Can I say that)
Edited to say
The crappy part might be they take all the extra time in office, minus the evaluated office hours to come up with the hours to deduct from the total we are over.
This would just be crazy!

I have tried both ways and find it faster to case everything. Most carriers that are having 2080 problems is because they are not getting time off due to RCA shortages. But you can bet usps had future plans for this info.
I’ve done it both ways for years and I believe casing DPS is faster, but I still prefer to take it to the street to get out of the office and also to deal with DPS while I’m sitting in the LLV (as opposed to standing at the case). The difference in time is not meaningful to me—about 15-20 minutes most days.

Ivv be watched video and Heather stated… only has to be notated once whether casing or not and will automatically fill in for remainder of days. So, if you carry, but chose to case one day due to situation, you won’t be able to change? This right here is another reason why no carrier ship sign off.
Watch it again. He says it will auto select. To make things easier. But each day can be changed individually.

That's about the same with me. I'm not usually in a hurry I just prefer to deal with 1 bundle unless I have a box holder, I don't usually case them.

I think in the future they may come up with a new time standard for dps if they determine one way should take less time and if we choose to carry dps other than the quickest way you will not be compensated. Which is what they are doing now if dps to the street is really the quickest. If they do ill have to adapt.

How can they come up with a new time standard for DPS, with POV, LLV, Mercedes Vans for delivery ?

They won't this count but they usually adjust things as they want. I don't see why the standard should be different depending on the vehicle.

Driven all 3 here become decent imo on all 3. I can deliver far easier and faster from LLV/FFV next is metris then pov. Box regulations fit LLV/FFV much better for height and distance imo. Metris is only slightly slower just because you don’t have the giant window like LLV. I also ride the hump and do not have a tray in pov. Still need a vehicle outside work I can drive.

all in all I truly believe there should be different standards based on vehicle that route has. Not big differences mind you maybe 10% tops from pov to gov.

I delivered quicker with a 4door Buick sitting in the middle, but that was before the package boom. Drove RHD Cherokee and liked it the least. Had 3 Wrangler Rhd's p liked them a lot great in winter. I like the Metris the best in good weather but the cage takes a little time. The llv is ok but I feel like I've taken a beating by the end of day. But not a lot of difference in time.

Watched again and at 10:04 he states once chosen it will automatically default for every day
Default doesn't mean permanent. Most routes will carry DPS the same everyday. So no need to change the selection. It's already filled out. For those that like to mix it up. The selection can can be changed.
Why have the option or ask daily DPS method if it can't be changed?

Because I have morons who will say exactly what I posted… it’s automatically default, which means it will make that same selection everyday unless changed. Unfortunately they won’t understand the part about being able to change 🤪
