Mail surveys

How is the quality of everyone's DPS ?

Inverts are down a little bit and missent are down quite a bit. SHOCKER!

My question is how many mail survey are we going to keep doing????? At some point, my numbers are staying between my lowest and highest count. At some point, they will decide not to count for years again.

mostly pristine so far.

we'll see how the hangovers go tomorrow.

i have had a few days of really messed up, which i attribute to old school plant clerks who know the score...but those are few and far between anymore.

Inverteds are same as usual as are the pulls from DPS. Approximately 1/5th of my DPS was markups. Nothing changes here with ours.

As to how many MMS will we keep doing? Every 6 months until something changes in the Contract. The idea to move to 1-year intervals was shot down at the Convention.

I don't understand why they wouldn't go to a year.

My DPS is completely changes. I looked at my last years number. Right now invert, I am down about 5-10 letters total in inverts and on average down about the same for missent on a normal basis (maybe 15 tops)

One reason is due to gain or loss of Amazon or other packages. Waiting a year could cause a major upset for those carriers if the gain was at the beginning of the year & no compensation for a whole year. That would also be a hell of a loss also .
Another reason is due to Seasonal routes. Pick the fall & the snowbird routes suffer. Pick the spring & the other side of that coin has the issue.

Twice a year is more fair & more likely to capture the true evaluation of the route.

More inverted than right side up... ;)
Yeah, I know it's good for the count but they are not supposed to process mail in an inverted position. We've all had plenty of days where upon if we flipped our trays upside down , we'd have MORE UPRIGHT mail. Anyway, check out page 2 of this ;

I spoke with a plant operator who indicated that they process anything with a fold at top even if it's upside down for reading, as otherwise the machines jam and it all has to be sent as raw mail to the clerks. Upside downs aren't an accident, they're loaded into the machines that way. That's why if you see one mailing continually upside down it's machined that way. It's abundantly clear nobody cares.

And then there's the red flag when a tray is dropped and about 200 letters are "random"

Plant loads full APC's with DPS and my route is on the bottom. So, the very bottom tray's mail is so bent up that it doesn't finger well at all. I take small handfuls and try to bend it back enough to handle.

The longer the intervals , easier it is for PO to manipulate . And think about freezing thing for example—- a route would be frozen for 13 months to 23 months as opposed to 13 months to 17 months

This is where the PO needs to get with the mailer and either have them correct or modify their mailing or charge the mailer a non machinable rate. We aren't losing money on that postage due Birthday card that is .0000695 "too tall " , we are losing money on the millions of pieces of mail DAILY that are not prepared properly.

Saturday we had a working tray of DPS, completely out of sequence, I counted every piece but was told we don't credit. Is this correct?
Missequence, 3m, etc. Should count! Don't let them get away without taking that number. Union has a slideshow somewhere for the mms and in it describes the items to be counted in a box.

No. I sure hope you have the number of pieces from THAT particular tray. If THAT number is not included in your raw / random numbers, that's reason enough to NOT agree to the data on the MMS sheet. For the ADDITIONAL compensation , refer to The 603 and start at 541.41 for additional compensation for having to case DPS if the number of pieces are 125 or more.
