Ge8trca -- "
I’m a designation 74 RCA, holding down a K route, am I eligible to be paid for the day?"
-- RCA's in leave-earning status are eligible for Administrative Leave.
-- If you are directed to report to work, you better get paid. Can't have rural carriers working on the clock and not get paid!
-- But is a good question. The ELM addresses Full-Time Employees, Part-Time Regular Employees, and Part-Time Flexible Employees.
-- Not specifically addressed are RCA's holding down a regular route. The closest might be "Transitional Employees", but they are paid only for actual work hours performed on the national day of observance. They ARE NOT granted administrative leave. I guess that rules out you as a Transitional Employee since RCA's in leave-earning status are eligible for Administrative Leave.
-- Best contact your Assistant District Representative.
PS -- From RI's Important Points About The 2017 Christmas Overtime Period For Rural Carriers:
Leave Replacements:
2. If you are an RCA working a vacant route, or you are working in the absence of the regular carrier, you will be treated as a regular carrier during the Christmas OT Period.
Unfortunately the above is not part of the 2018 Christmas info! Although paragraphs 1 and 3 remain intact.
RIAdmin -- is this an oversight or has paragraph 2 been officially dropped?
