Funeral day pay?

Ge8trca -- "I’m a designation 74 RCA, holding down a K route, am I eligible to be paid for the day?"

-- RCA's in leave-earning status are eligible for Administrative Leave.

-- If you are directed to report to work, you better get paid. Can't have rural carriers working on the clock and not get paid!

-- But is a good question. The ELM addresses Full-Time Employees, Part-Time Regular Employees, and Part-Time Flexible Employees.

-- Not specifically addressed are RCA's holding down a regular route. The closest might be "Transitional Employees", but they are paid only for actual work hours performed on the national day of observance. They ARE NOT granted administrative leave. I guess that rules out you as a Transitional Employee since RCA's in leave-earning status are eligible for Administrative Leave.

-- Best contact your Assistant District Representative.

PS -- From RI's Important Points About The 2017 Christmas Overtime Period For Rural Carriers:

Leave Replacements:

2. If you are an RCA working a vacant route, or you are working in the absence of the regular carrier, you will be treated as a regular carrier during the Christmas OT Period.

Unfortunately the above is not part of the 2018 Christmas info! Although paragraphs 1 and 3 remain intact.

RIAdmin -- is this an oversight or has paragraph 2 been officially dropped?

If you are not directed to work on Wednesday delivering parcels, you will be paid Administrative Leave equal to your evaluation but not over 8 hours.

Just clarification here if you are asking about a personal funeral situation yes you are granted time off but to get paid you must use earned leave time with it being requested as annual or sick.

If you are asking about the National day of Remembrance that a good question? I would assume that you would get the day off without pay like all other holidays for a 74 RCA. Additionally you will probably be required to work because you are an RCA!
