USPS To Put Cameras in Trucks That Scan Roads for ‘Community Safety’
USPS says the cameras, put on USPS truck dashboards, will scan roads, signs, and more.
Only outward facing… but will it catch those carriers chasing runaway rollawaysAt least it’s only outward facing with no audio recording. So glad it’s only City Carriers for now.
Exactly! USPS isn't about safety, they are about screwing carriers. They never put backup cameras in LLVs, even after all the hoopla they made about backing... Seems fishy with these cameras... they'll have some way of hassling carriers with these cameras, that's their main MO...![]()
Calling bs on that one. Self driving cars still can't even figure out properly marked nicely paved roads with certainty. There is no way they are going to navigate ever changing gravel roads, wildlife, and pull into mail boxes accurately. The USPS once had a plan to implement self driving delivery vehicles. The plan was to start with Rural Carriers. Maybe they are planning to bring the plan to life. The plan was the Postal Vehicle drives itself and we deliver mail and hold legal responsibility for the driving.
They would rather see if it is snowing outside, instead of a backup camera to help make sure your do not run over someone. They never put backup cameras in LLVs, even after all the hoopla they made about backing... I always figured they would tether a drone to our scannerWhat's next????
Hiring more management so each carrier has to have management follow every day 24/7....
I put a radio in my son's car with a nice back up camera for less than a hundred. The cost saved from one lawsuit could probably cover cameras for all the remaining llvs. But remember, this is the organization that okayed the new duck truck. Common sense is no where to be found.
How long have u had the duck truck? Did your whole office get them?I put a radio in my son's car with a nice back up camera for less than a hundred. MOST HONEST, AND TRUE COMMENT OF THE NIGHT!!!!!!Exactly! USPS isn't about safety, they are about screwing carriers.
Don't have one never will. But I've read the specs and have read first hand accounts of people that do have them. They are a rolling dumpster fire. How long have u had the duck truck? Did your whole office get them?
