RRECS: Parcel Time

As far as we know under RRECS: where you SCAN the package is where you get credit. They could conceivably change this, but I've seen no indication of doing so.

If you are scanning packages at your case, instead of at the business (or other delivery point), this will hurt you under RRECS (as it stands now).

In another life I used scanners for a different business. In that business they had a program that was built into them that would identify when something was hand typed. In this instance when something was hand typed it would automatically request and generate a new label to replace the one that wouldn't scan. So I think the capabilities to report and get extra time assigned to these situations is available if requested. This is why actual carriers should have been more involved in the RRECS process. We as a group have a wealth of knowledge from outside of the postal service that we can bring to the table!
I expect USPS will have clerks printing out labels for items requiring hand scans, just about the time our pay for hand generated entries would start being tracked.?
Similar to the possibility of the p.o. renting the boxes out to ups, FedEx, etc...if their stuff is in there, and I have a small med parcel...wellllll...its going to the door
What else can you do?
I hope it doesn't come to that. I can see my customer's mail blowing away while these other services try to cram their deliveries in the box. ??

I hate having to scan parcel at door to get full credit. No reason we shouldn't be able to scan parcel in vehicle, then dismount with scanner attached to us and deliver to door. Let's say it's pouring down rain, are you going to carry scanne and parcel to door, place parcel down, then scan it. Then it doesn't take the scan and you have to manually input it, and the customer wants to know what the crap is this moron doing? I think most carriers are going to scan these in vehicle, bag if necessary, and take it to door quickly as possible so you don't get soaked. While this is efficient, and good customer service, and the best way to do it, BUT we will once again under this corrupt system called rrecs, not be credited for bagging the parcel, or time dismounted and distance to door even though we did so. So many ways we lose under this system. Keep paying your dues.

Is Bagging required per 603?

No.
If parcel is not endorsed "leave if no response," we are to take it back to the office and attempt it the next day.
If you still cannot leave it, it gets notified then.

Note: Every Amazon parcel I've ever had is "leave if no response."
We don't get paid to knock on door and wait. So how can we know if there's no response unless we knock and wait? So why isn't there time for knocking and wait for parcels that arent endorsed " leave if no response?"

Lets not forget to place blame where it should go...the engineers..
Imho...they're both corrupt and in cahoots..no self respecting educated engineer would overlook these glaring discrepancies
They had ONE job!...if those engineers never once went out and delivered mail, then I have NO respect for the results...js

Interesting question. Do you wait when you take a parcel to the door? Do you take parcels to the door and then not leave them? Does everybody even ring or knock?
I'm home more than 90% of time things are delivered to my house. I can hear the doorbell, though admittedly I might miss a knock (tap) at the door. I frequently "find" things that were delivered, including USPS.
Isn't the most likely scenario that we see now is that an item is simply brought on the porch and scanned.

I thought the basic interpretation of the leave if no response was to just deliver it to the door. If you ring door bell or knock and then scan package and leave it sure seems to me that you attempted to elicit a response and didn't get one (albeit you didn't wait long). I was always happier when I heard a "Thank you" directed at my back as I walked back to the vehicle, and somewhat displeased hearing a door open and close.

When I was getting 250 packages per day I stopped the bagging of packages, took to much time each day it added up over a weeks time. Now with reduced packages due to loosing Amazon the practice of bagging remains undone by me!
My reg and I have just stopped this bagging also, we have to provide our own bags and we are not paid to bag. Glad we no longer do it..

My sub and don't love bagging but we do it because it's good customer service. And the po buys the bags. Of course, if l had to pay for the bags, I would reconsider. Our pm, bless her soul, is pro rural and makes our lives bearable. Now if only she could do something about the Amazon Avalanche then all would good .(Like get us paid for it)

probley silly question but i will ask-is the extra large amazon parcels-like literally the whole size of back seat-the same credit as any parcel taken to door?
