1st special count im nervous

Also, you get the extra time in R column for the added duties and time associated with say a Saturday when you return and the PO is now closed earlier than during the week and you have to do things like unlock and re-lock the door or put keys in a different place than you would normally do when the PO was still open. [2] Withdrawl time!! With a special count and only certain routes being counted, not all of them in the office, the routes need to make sure they get their withdrawl allowance [5 minutes per day] if the routes in the office get it. Because withdrawl is all or nothing-which means all routes get it or all routes don't. I'm thinking if the route getting counted isn't given their withdrawl time, that may trigger a problem for the route or routes that already have it.

Here’s one that you don’t want to slip by.
Every week our advo/red plum comes with the last box first in the bundle of the next routes advo.

let’s say you get 800 advo in 20 bundles of 40. The route before you gets 39 of yours in their last bundle and you get 39 of the route after you in your last bundle.

you should be getting credit for 839 flats. You touch it it counts for your route. Same for any presort bundles of flats that are mixed. Additionally with the advo if it’s a crappy run, where every 5th one has an unaddressed cover sheet extra those are flats as well. Maybe IA UBBM but TFB. You got them they count.
This is a different subject but it made me think of something I've wondered about but not sure if anyone up above has. What will happen in this situation when RRECS hits? We'll still be handling these types of things all the time but I don't believe there is any way this will be taken into account.

We used to have marriage mail scans. No longer. Edd s supposed to have a placard with scan and info. Political used to be separate. Animals used to arrive alive. No more. Used to be able to manage my own route. No more. I think the counts are a sick joke and rrecks is a clean up soon to be in aisle four. Just slowing the rolling stone down till it's obsolete then the machine will pay another consultant for the next rock life jacket they throw out to save rural.

One thing I've not found a satisfactory answer to is, what defines the Mail Volume Factor? I know how it's used, mine is currently 2.15, but how is that number derived?

In any case this special count isn't going to mean much to me, in just this two week period I'll be adding about 25 centralized boxes and 1.5 miles which will push me up at least one more hour to 45. By about Thanksgiving I'll be at 48 and I guess I'll be there until sometime in January when they'll reduce my route.

Day 4 and P.M. has been receptive to any data disputed by the carriers.
I have had to print out literature from the count guide to get said P.M. up to date on a few items but all is well.
I don't know how the route is really doing untill I get the last routes count data, I'm 4 months on this route as a new regular.
Thank you RI and everyone ( you know who you are)
I have learned so much postal crap this year it isn't funny.
Thanks again all!
Good luck and God speed to all who are counting & to all the ditch drivers slugging it out!
Cheers!

@ Tank... From a city carrier about the VF calculations for them... Don't know if their math reflects actual Rural #s. I guess the best way to figure out what our standards are for letter and flats case items per min is to decode our count sheet math to figure out what that # is. I want to say there #s are 18 & 8?

The volume factor represents the average minutes of mail for each delivery address per week for a route. If it's a K route or a standard 5 day a week route the a volume factor of 2.09 is minutes of mail per week per address. In other words our standards are 10 flats per minute and 18 letters per minute, so a 2.09 volume factors means roughly that the route might get 10 flats (1 min.) and 18 or 19 letters (1+ min.)or a combination of letters and flats equal to 2.09 min. per week on average for each delivery. The volume factor is established at mail count and along with the box factor, total number of boxes, mileage and a few other time allowances are what's used to generate a profile and evaluation of a rural route.

If you take away all of the "fixed" items from your evaluation, what you will have left is your volume factor. What I mean by "fixed" is the items / things that are constant each and every day as well as the assigned items such as 20 minutes for stamp stock, scanner set up time, 30 minutes for govt. vehicle, etc. Other items that are "fixed" are number of boxes, miles, 5 minutes personal time daily, etc. There are more items but you get the idea. Hope this helps.
